So I've got a little time in Manila, what should I do?

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, I will not have time to go to Corregidor, or I would do it.

I should be mostly over the jet lag by that point, as I'm going to Beijing first for almost a week, and then on to Taipei.

I plan to stay far away from those misbehaving young ladies, and to take a hotel car to and from the airport.

I may even be paranoid enough to go to the hotel transportation lounge in the airport, rather than wandering off with the first person who has a sign with my name on it. I've read about fake signs - they will see your name on a sign and put it on their bogus sign. But since I'm not rich, that's probably too paranoid.

glypnir, when are you due here in Manila? You can email if you want. Sadly, it is true that you have to be careful in dealing with people (but then again that applies anywhere you are when you are a stranger). Also, since you said you will be staying around the Ortigas area, the EDSA Shangri La hotel is a good bet for you. Around that hotel are big malls like Mega Mall and Robinson's Galleria. You can visit Virra mall in Greenhills. They have many stores there where you can buy really cheap items. Your money will go a looong way here since the current exchange rate to a U$ dollar is Php48.50. Hope you get a chance to have a good time here. Drop me a mail so I can guide you more accurately.

PS If you don't want to be moving away too much from your hotel, try Robinson's Galleria. It is a hotel that has a mall in it's lower floors. They have all sorts of stores including souvenir shops. Oh and be careful with ladies that are too 'friendly'.

San Miguel left me with a world-class headache. I've been that drunk since then, but never had such a foul hangover.

And try to stay in the Manila Hotel if you can. It's gorgeous.
