I love fried okra. I enjoy dried okra as well, though its rehydration in the mouth is strange at first. It is deceptively easy to eat in great quantities, which only leads to a mass exodus in the GI tract.

I surely agree with the OP. I rejoined here a while back and thought that most of the elbows were gone but now there's a whole new crop. I'm talking about about people so arrogant that anyone disagreeing with them is subject to being ridiculed. A couple of them have posted in this thread.
What this does, is cause new members to either drop out or not post opinions and soon lose interest. A year ago this forum was my first stop on the net; but not today. I still enjoy reading posts from some of the fine individuals who always seem to have something positive to say or even a positive and encouraging way to disagree with others. They have taught me a lot ---- and not just about handguns.

I agree with this 100%, some of them have low count on post (which means they don't like to get along with others) and have been member since the first day of the forum and only post when they can stir the pot and make others as un-happy as they are about life. One bad apple in a peck will sour the others as they say
. Just over look them and they will go away till the next time . With five pages they have been fed real good.
Don't worry, be happy. Some of us, myself included, just like to argue. I think it's healthy. Especially, since no one on the forum is likely to look me up and kick my butt. Just remember that no matter how cranky some of us may seem in a forum, we'd be a lot nicer in person. Plus we're not nearly as neanderthal as we may seem, or we wouldn't be online.

Frozen dinners? Heck I had one a few nights ago....
I took out a dozen pierogies from the batch I have frozen from Christmas. Real, homemade ones... not those things you buy in the supermarket.

I disagree with both of you guys! (Not really...
)I am not going to get into the drunkenness stuff, the frozen food, or even complain about the complaining. I will say this - some of the stuff S&W makes now I would love to have had when I was thirty years younger. Can I whine about being too old - or feeling like I am?
No self-respecting Southern man would ever cook okra in anything but corn meal, lard, and a cast iron skillet.

For the most part, Forum members LOVE their S&Ws. Most of us old pistoleros HATE the lock. Most of us prefer older to newer, as quality has decreased over time (like all other mass produced items). There was a time when Colt made the finest DA revolver in the country, the Python. Colt no longer makes DA revolvers. IMHO, S&W now makes the finest DA revolvers. They are followed by Ruger, and trailed FAR behind by Taurus. Can you have a problem with a S&W ? ? ABSOLUTELY ! ! Will it be remedied by the factory to your satisfaction? In the VAST majority of instances, YES ! ! Of course there are exceptions, and these lead to most of the "complaints" you read here. Members come here to vent, seek solace and guidance, and sometimes to RAVE about their S&Ws. It's like this on every forum. Forums devoted to the lower quality weapons have more negative posts. Don't get discouraged. This is a fine forum, loaded with knowledgeable and helpful people. I've been shooting over 50 yrs, and I learn something new every time I visit. After a while, you'll sort out which members have valuable input, and who the few chronic cry babies are.....
Perhaps morale is down since S&W:
-Doesn't have their own gunsmith's assemble the guns. An outside gunsmith is brought in and paid "per gun" they build. So the more they build in less time the more $$ they get. Quality goes to hell.
-Customer service reps just say whatever appeases the caller whether they know what they are talking about or not.
-S&W replacing PC parts (forged) with MIM parts. I was fortunate that my request for a full refund suddenly made them find a forged hammer/trigger lying around.
-They still make the best revolver but making more money has put quality/integrity in the back seat.

Naaaa, I can tell you first hand Morale is up at S&W
I've spoken with a few of their gunsmiths in person, never saw anything like what you described about not having any, could swear he said he worked for Smith & Wesson..
Customer service reps are pretty darn good, sometimes one will mess up, but then when they have to deal with the occassional moron or free-loader, they get painted into a corner..
Glad to hear you were so well taken care of, with them finding a forged hammer for you, sounds like you really intimidated them.
Also nice to see you realize they do build a nice gun, I've found them to put quality and integrity right up front, but that's just my experience.

My gunsmith stated they are not "actual" S&W employees. Perhaps I misunderstood him. They are paid per gun, not an hourly wage. That would explain the many (for an S&W) small issues with a factory gun.
-My gunsmith said though they are stil the best revolvers you can buy and I agree, but these companies have really compromised quality over true S&W quality that we used to see.
-S&W is the only revolver I have ever bought (total of 3) but I had them all tuned/timing checked before I even shot them.

Now that I read this, it seems you really do have a great gunsmith. You can always tell the great ones.. they're the ones that pick themselves up on the pedestal by knocking someone off..... verbally. Just doing good work is not enough...

Fried with corn meal is fine and I love it like I love fried catfish. But don't turn up yer nose as smothered okra with tomaters and ham chunks-and hell, throw in a little corn too.
