Poke salad?
We had a bad wild fire come through in March. It seems to have boosted the poke salad crop tremendously around the house. Went out and gathered up about a quarter bushel and cooked some for dinner. Been a while.

Good eating, especially with some hot sauce. It used to grow all around an old barn on my in-laws farm. My mother-in-law prepared it fairly often, but that's been more than thirty years ago. Nowadays, I'll bet there are many who have never tried it.

Oh yeah. Now I remember. Poke has been sorta a Hawaiian cerveche/sashimi thing for so long in my experience I'd forgotten.

I remember my Grandma's was great if you ate it while it was hot. Once it cooled off the fat started firming up and didn't taste as good.
