So Who likes their Rim-Fire Rifles with Levers? - pics

The thing is, almost all .22's are great, a fellow really can't have enough of them. I really have no idea how many .22's I have, at least fifty, but I know it's not enough. Just wish I had more time to shoot them!

ko41,
Your Marlin Model 57 Levermatic....Never seen one before. Can you tell us something about them? Very nice indeed!!

Bob

The Levermatic was introduced in 1955 with the clip magazine model 56 followed by the tube magazine model 57 in 1957. Production of the 56 ended in 1964, the 57 in 1965 and the 57M .22 Magnum in 1969.

"The lever mechanism of the Levermatics had a short smooth action achieved by use of a cam and roller accelerator system. This system operated the bolt through its full stroke during ejection, feeding, and loading by only a 2-in. flick of the fingers in the loop of the lever."

Thanks for posting the 250s....my gun must be a later model as it has a different lever...

I've seen two different types of lever. Same in this thread.

I no longer own this gun. I bought it locally for $240 out the door and sold it for $890 on a Gun Broker auction to a Winchester collector. The highly figured wood was the money maker. No one had seen a 250 with wood like that...me either. The forearm was just as nice.

Sorry for bragging about the $'s

ko41,
Thanks for the information on the Levermatic. I will need to keep an eye out for one...I'd love a .357 or .22 Jet!!

raveneap,
Every one of my friends who owns a Henry .22 swears by their gun!

C&L,
I'd brag too...you hit a great deal . Hard to imagine that kind of price!!!

Bob

LeverMatics were cataloged at one time in 30Carbine but I don't think any were shipped in that caliber. If there were any, they are pretty rare. I don't recall seeing any in 30Car when I worked there.
The .22rf had an aluminum recvr (RustProof! so said the ads). The centerfires (and IIRC the 22Mag) had a steel recvr. Good design,,just never caught on.

My only lever 22 is a Marlin 1897. A semi deluxe with a 1/2 oct barrel and pistol grip. Well worn and somewhere along the way it's barrel was shortened to 24". I added a Lyman tang site and it's an accurate little thing. If it ever comes back from squirrel & grouse season at the hands of my brother I'll post a pic or 2.
Standard vel only in those older Marlins with the square cornered locking shoulder on the bolt.

It's a toss up of which I like the best, but I can tell you the Henry is with me more often than the others. Eats any ammo it's fed, accurate and smooth. Not nearly as elegant or refined as the Marlins, but gets the job done.

Next gun to go in my safe: a Winchester 9422, then I feel my .22 rifle colection will be complete.
