Well, now that I have my red dot sight, naturally, my 617 revolver 6 inch, will not fit in any case that I have. It rode to the range today in a gunsock inside my range bag. I would rather have a nylon case, if possible. Can anyone recommend a soft case that will fit my gun? Thanks in advance!

I have a couple of cases that S&W marketed and and maybe still do on their website. They fit my 17-6 with reddot. They measure 15"long x 9" high.

Nice but it has been discontinued. I too have the same issue looking for a soft case for both a 617 and 686 with red dots. Hope someone else can help.

Numerous mfg's have the squarish type gun rugs, I have 4 or 5 of them in different configurations. Look on Midway or Brownells, or other on line stores and you shouldn't have any problem finding one.

I've looked at them and most are setup as tactical cases with magazine holders, not really suitable for revolvers. There is a case manufacturer out of St. Louis, might be just an importer, that is at some of the local gun shows so I am waiting for the next one to have a look, will be taking the tape measure along.

I have noticed that some vendors either don't list the measurements or list them incorrectly. I already purchased one in which my 617 didn't (but should have) fit. I really like the discontinued S&W case.

Although not my first choice, I just purchased a hard plastic case that works. Maybe if I see something nicer in the soft case line, I'll give my wife a hint for Christmas. Thanks all for your input.
