A K frame with seven rounds of .327 FED MAG and a three or four inch barrel, perhaps ported.

A new frame size for a snubbie, necessarily bigger than a J frame, with a six shot cylinder in .38 Special +P, and a short barrel.

A polymer full-size and compact pistol, 9mm and .40 S&W, with a hammer...

I'm pretty well convinced that the people in Springfield don't give a rats behind what their customer base wants...even though for many years the market has been wishing out loud for lockless versions of the models they produced in the past. Rest assured, if I were given the helm at S&W I would throw out half of their current product line and return to the 1970's and 80's.

I had a conversation with a senior engineer (since retired) at S&W years ago and suggested they could abandon the lock since the Arkansas folks had left the building and the Texas folks had moved into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
His reply: "Never gonna happen!"

Unfortunately, there is zero chance as long as Saf-T-Hammer retains ownership of S&W. If I were in charge of S&W I would offer lockless models as special order and charge $100 extra for them. I know that as a consumer I would gladly-though-grudgingly fork out the extra $$. I'll bet their year end profit numbers would soar if they did that.

I'd also split the company into two...the M&P brand for the semi-auto handguns and rifles...and the Smith & Wesson brand exclusively for revolvers.

If they don’t at least listen to your customers then in the future they might end up like Harley Davidson. Sad but true. Stay loyal to your customers put the loc on the back strap on the revolvers if you have to have it. Offer the magnum n frames in a snubbies, a 4”, a5”, a 6”, a6.5”, a8 3/8”. Why not take orders for what the customer wants. Blue or nickel.?

Imagine a no-lock 3 inch bright blue square butt model 29 with Walnut grips! You would be on a three year waiting list.
