I have waited 6+ months for this rifle. I have taken it out twice and have had serious problems! The first outing, it cycled the first 100 fine, but had a total 8-FTF and 8FTE. That did not disappoint me too much. I took it out today and it cycled the first mag fine, but then serious problems occurred. It would literally FTE every 2 rounds, so the third like clock work never ejected. This happened for approx 200 rds. I tried different types of ammo, cci, winchester, remington and consistently happened with all ammo. One of the ejections actually gouged out part of the polymer frame, I could not believe it. Anyway, for rifle of the year, this thing has really depressed me. Here is the kicker too, my friend has one with non-blue springs that has fired extensive amounts of ammo reliably, and here I am with the blue springs with so many problems.
I have a question about how S&W handles warranties? Is it only the original owner or any after? I bought it from the original owner with 1 mag through the pipe and it was evident. Anyway, just want to see if anyone has any advice about the service, or problems or whatever, I just really can't understand how this thing is malfunctioning so terribly. Finally, I bought a new bodyguard .380 2 weeks ago and traded it in today for a Ruger LCP, someone please please please provide me with an ounce of hope for S&W? :(

I think you need to give S&W a fair shot to fix it and make it right before you completely jump ship. Everything ever made by man will Occasionally produce a bad one. Call them up and tell them what you just told us. Bet you a dollar they make it right.

On a side note. What was the issue with the bodyguard? I was seriously thinking about one.

Will my buying about 20 S&W guns the last year with virtually no problems and thousands of rounds through them help to restore your faith.... We must have 4-5000 rounds through the 15-22, just picked up the BG380 last week, haven't had a cance to hit it hard yet... but will tomorrow or saturday and I am sure it will perform great... just like the rest have. The M&P's, have been incredible as well. Hang in there, give em a chance to make it right. Just call them and have them mail a label.

Give S&W customer service a call. They will fix your problem. Never had a single issue with S&W, Baer, Kimber, or Wilson customer services. Gee, I mentioned a couple high end shooter.....yes, even the best shooter can have problems. Let Smith and Wesson rectify your 15-22 FTE problem.

I''ve put over 3K of rounds through my 15-22 ....ZERO problems :)

Sorry to hear you gave up the Bodyguard for the LCP. I've carried S&W as my duty side arm, hunting, and recreation for over 36 years. I was able to keep a S/W Model 19 as my service carry while others got the d@#$ Barrera 92SB (perk of being the boss). Wheel guns -- S&W are second to none. S&W autos no problems either. Even though I'm a 1911 guy for 45ACP.

Aim small,
tat

Does the warranty apply to a non-original purchaser? My shipping label is apparently on the way, and I of course understand that some units will inevitably malfunction. I'm a particular guy and am hoping they will replace that polymer upper, because there is a gouge there now that was created by a violent attempted ejection. Please refer to the post 2 below this one, somehow those pics went through, it will demonstrate what I am saying regarding the gouge and take a peek at how the ejections manipulated the shell casings so badly, wowzer! I will definitely give S&W another shot because I love this rifle when it is shooting right.

The bodyguard trigger is as bad as most on this forum attest it to be. I owner the Ruger lcp previously and sold it to buy a killer-priced new bodyguard, $290 out the door, don't as how. Anyway, the trigger pull coupled with it engaging so close to the rear of the trigger guard dictates a virtually zero accuracy shot. I literally have better groupings with the lcp's no sights and no laser. To each their own, but I really was not a fan of the gun. I definitely like the looks, and if they amended the trigger slightly it would have been a perfect 380 choice.

a quick check would be to take the bolt out in put a round in it like the pic in that post if it dont hold it straight out that would be your issue, if not the ejector is the problem and you can adjust that on your own.

But the one i had to fix chipped the gun just like on yours.

Good luck

use the correct ammo i have been using CCI mini mags and eley subs never had 1 issue yet. went out and put 500 rounds through yesterday not 1 failed

Avoid Remington like the plague with this gun, it states in the owners manual to not use Remington golden bullets, as well as a few others. Also gives a list of recommended ammo. Federal bulk is one of them and that is what I mostly use without any issue.

Comment 1: mine has a nick at the ejection port similar to yours and I didn't have the extraction/ejection problems you had.

Comment 2: Remington Golden and Thunderbolt bullets have worked very well in my 15-22. Try them. Some guns have trouble and some don't.

Per S&W, the warranty only applies to the original owner.

I doubt they are going to ask anyone if they are the original owner simply because of the reputation they want to maintain and/or they don't want a potentially unsafe gun out there with their name on it. I've heard of a number of cases of S&W just taking care of a problem even though it was no longer with the original owner. There may be exceptions, but I don't think you are going to have a problem.

I like your thinking.
