I got back from the range today, and was looking my guns over. The barrel ports on the 9 Shield PC had hard caked carbon all around them. I decided to do a little pre-cleaning.

Hoppes #9 took most of it off, but there was still a little that was stubbornly hard caked on. I made a mental note to get some "Carbon Killer" and clean my brass brush.

Then I slathered on some Slip 2000 EWL to protect it. The burned on carbon just dissolved under my finger, then wiped right off with a rag. No need for "Carbon Killer".

When I clean it, I'll be liberal with the Slip 2000 in that area, and add some more every once in a while. Should make the next cleanup a lot easier. :D :D

Another New comp. that makes all types of gun cleaners & lubes have never tried it but surely it cant be as sorry & lousy as "Frog-****" (mean frog-lube)

Slip2000 is good stuff.

I use the EWL30 for the insides of my revolvers. A great "stay in place" dedicated lube. They claim it to be "universal" like a CLP, but it's mainly for lubing.

Got away from the "one CLP does it all" routine after seeking superior lube/grease for action jobs. A refined action needs a good lube/grease and things like CLP just aren't really cut out for it. Think sacrifices when it comes to CLPs.

Certain parts inside a revolver should have grease applied, like Slip2000's EWG (extreme weapons grease), but other parts normal lube. To prevent multiple products and multiple applications of said products, Slip2000 has what's called EWL30, which is extreme weapons lube 30 weight viscosity. They used to have a EWL50 weight but discontinued it. Would have rather had that, but the 30 works good and stays put. Plus I can use it like a grease or a lube, best of both worlds. Doesn't dry out or travel.

This lets me apply it where I need it, mainly the insides, and it stays there. Allowing me to apply RenWax to the outside for good fingerprint, sweat, and moisture protection.
