Something so small I can carry it in my hand

I have no excuse for not having at least this P32 with me:

American Derringer makes a high quality two shot derringer in .45 Colt/.410 shotshell. It's quite a bit smaller than the Bond.

You would probably have to have some pretty large hands to conceal it though.

If you read a book on running that suggested running w/ a gun in your hand you had better throw that book away now.

I use a very small Jansport fanny pack cinched snugly for my P3AT, cell phone w/ some cash rubber banded around my ID when bicycling.

When participating in activities involving minimal dress such as a swimsuit or other light weight clothing I dumb down to a Spyderco Cricket tucked into a sweatband on my wrist or into my waist band.

Long distance running is problematic in that the slightest irritation can literally make you bleed by the end of the run. Something as heavy as even a lightweight J frame or P3AT needs to be snug to the body. You may have to acquire some needle and thread skills to modify something to appropriate your needs.

I don't run (unless I'm getting shot at :D) but the NAA mini has been mentioned and I'd back that choice only I'd suggest .22 mag over LR,as to carry.....

Really think you should look into the folding grip with clip for the thing and clip it somewhere out of sight-BUT if you insist on having it in you hand, ever thought of a small PDA,notebook etc holster? get an NAA and stuff it in there and just carry it in your hand, granted you'll look strange as all hell but I'd guess you won't be questioned like you would if you've got a gun in your hand!

I also think there's an across the chest set up you may want to try with ether an NAA or a small .32 or .380 that positions it dead center of your chest and has (I think) three straps to hold it down.

I have put many a mile in wearing a Galco fanny pack.

Hand carrying the gun is a VERY bad idea.

Running??? Running??? What's all this talk about running?

Exactly. I simply practice shooting better.

Good advice here. Consider what might happen if you're running with a gun in hand and trip or turn your ankle. The gun will go flying.

I am in the same situation. I run with a very attractive young gal in the early morning hours. This morning, I took my 642 Air-weight and just wrapped it in a small towel which I always carry. It worked pretty well. Just had to change hands every now and then because of the weight but not bad at all. I may look into the belly bands. I am also thinking of making a small holster out of a washcloth and just carrying it in one hand. I know carrying a gun in your hand sounds a little crazy but if it is concealed in something, it is legal. Anyway, I will keep experimenting and thanks for all the help.

This. A Seecamp LWS32/LWS380. Identical in size, regardless of caliber.

Carried in a shoulder holster under a sweater or light running jacket. Or carried in a small fanny pack or small belted camera pouch.

I don't run, I walk. The running thing is overrated. :p

I use a fanny pack. Small one. Carry a 642.

My primary concern is dogs. While not a heck of lot better, the little 38 is a far cry better than a 32 or 380. Still wish I had my Kahr PM9.

I sometimes carry a ASP colapseable baton in my hand folded back under my arm. It gives me enough time to fend of a dog and get to my gun.

I know a guy that carries a Kel Tec P3AT on a lanyard around his neck. But deploying it is slow.

I run with a T shirt under the belly band to prevent chafing. It also keeps away the sweat. The belly band will tend to rotate so that the heavier part (the gun) comes forward against the belly. Those of us who run shouldn't have too big of a belly for that to be a problem.

Those of you who suggest running with a fanny pack are obviously not runners. Maybe if you "power walk"...

Carrying the gun in hand wrapped in a towel or shirt might have potential. I never thought of that.

I have a mini revolver but I am no big fan of it. Reliability is questionable and I still think a good fixed blade knife is a better alternative. And I always carry a knife, no matter what else I have with me.

After hunting the internet for a decent picture of one of the single shot .410 derringers that, I am sorry to say are made less than 50 miles from here...

I remember the father of the feller that started either Ingram or MAC (It's been so long, I don't remember) used to be a pastor at one of the local churches when I was a kid, if I remember correctly. Of course, this company has gone by the names of several monikers (FMJ, Leinad, etc.) Of course, I think these fellers also make the Cobray line of guns.

I bought one once...it was a handful. Pretty handy in the pocket to take while trout fishing. Also, if you dropped it, you definitely haven't lost anything. :p However, it's clunkyness and terribly awkward safety as I found out didn't make it good or even safe for carry at all.

The last few runs I have gone on I just wrapped my Airweight in a small towel. I carry it in my hand. After about two miles, I switch hands because of the weight. Even though it isn't much, it helps to move it back and forth. Anyway, so far this is the best method I have found to "run with a gun". I run in the early morning hours with a younger gal that is a real knockout. We run in some dark areas where there are no houses and not very much lighting. Anyway, it seems to work for now. We have passed a few "indigent" looking guys. No problems so far. This is not really a bad part of town buy you never know who is roaming around at 5:00 a.m.

I have a double Bbl. version.......I think your discription of this guns safety and operation was overly charitable

#1 If you feel the need to carry a gun in hand where you run, pick a new place to run.

#2 Any gun you can carry comfortably in your hand while jogging, won't be enough gun when you need it.
