Sounds like a pretty effective strategy to me

There is much to discuss with regards to this ongoing operation, however at the moment I am very engaged with contacts in Israel, not to mention my kids and grandkids (one of whom is knee-deep in the goings on as an officer and combat medic in a search and rescue battalion). Unfortunately for me Ben Gurion International is basically closed, and that coupled with the 10-14 day quarantine for returning Israeli's even if I could get over makes this a very difficult situation for me personally. My old brigade has been brought south and positioned on the outskirts of the border with Gaza, along with my old reserve battalion. In the past when I've been out of country and war/conflict breaks out I've been able to deadhead on air force/El Al cargo flights to join my unit. Needless to say sitting here and watching Israeli news broadcasts is, to say the least, very frustrating for me.
I will have more to say in due time.

sabashimon. I truly wish for you a good outcome to your wait. I'm not allowed to travel outside the US at this or any time in the future to assist another countries military however if i were I'd be right proud to stand at your side to assist.

What i can do is pray with and for you and your family and for your country and it's people.

Blessings sanashimomn

It's unfortunate that civilians end up as casualties, particularly if indeed used as human shields.

Most of us remember where we were on 9/11. I happened to be stuck overseas and I vividly recall videos of Palestinians in the West Bank: men, women, and yes, children, celebrating the murders of thousands of our own innocent civilians.

Those children back then are in their 20s now and I doubt their outlooks on their Great Satan (USA) and Little Satan (Israel) have improved. And they'd be at their peak destructive capabilities, led by hard-line Hamas compared to the Fatah leadership from 2 decades ago.

.......or alternatively he just might be a fool. Then again, based on forum guidelines he might not be, only his hairdresser knows for sure. ;)

The Israeli's are not without blame. Killing is killing, no matter how one tries to justify it.

I believe some of you will find this interesting.....

A murderous co-operation - Melanie Phillips

THIS is telling it just like it is. I haven't trusted anyone's biased media in decades and likely never will. We need to get the word out that this is what is happening and not that the "poor muslims" are being mistreated. Muslims want to kill or enslave everyone who is not like them, Israel more so than others. What amazes me is the number of American Jews who believe this and continue to vote against their own interests. The US media is overwhelmingly liberal/socialist trained by a liberal education system. Do not apply if you are a free thinking conservative. They won't let you in. We get our truth from other sources or just good common sense.

So then I assume you would have been against allied efforts in WWII. Dresden....Hiroshima.....Nagasaki....and many more.
You can choose to fight evil, with the inherent and unfortunate collateral consequences, or you can give evil carte blanche to do what they will, knowing that firing missiles from civilian homes and from civilian neighborhoods, true war crimes, will give them cover from response. And BTW, can you think of another country in history that sends texts and drops millions of leaflets to warn civilians to evacuate targets an hour in advance, thereby also allowing the bad guys to evacuate as well? Yeah, didn't think so. I'm curious.....Israel has more historical and emotional rights to that land than does America to Texas, to I'm guessing then that should Mexico decide that they want Texas back and start lobbing missiles into El Paso from civilian areas you'd be good with that and just shrug your shoulders as you bury your loved ones.

sabashimon the USA dropped leaflets over Hiroshima and Nagasaki prior to bombing both cities.

As a child growing up in Macon, GA our family kept the children of a neighbor family for a few days in order for the adults to attend the funeral of their nephew in Cedartown, GA. He was one of the victims of the attack on the USS Liberty. He was not killed by Muslims.

Do we need mention the retaliation for the 1972 Olympic massacre in Munich? Retribution took a heavy toll beyond people directly involved.

Shalom.

You feel that same way about personal self defense?
So then if you shoot an armed person attacking you, then YOU "are not without blame" and "killing is killing, no matter how YOU try to justify it" - right?

I read today that Israel sends warning missiles into places they are about to level to provide warning for occupants. To me that shows remarkable restraint, considering what the places they are leveling are being used for. I'm of the opinion that Israel could finish this mess in hours and be done with it if not for their concern for innocent civilian death. How fast attitudes change...those criticizing Israels methods today will at the same time celebrate the Greatest Generation, who fought and won an all out war with no consideration for civilian deaths.

Funny the media would complain . . . all they are is someone's tool.

Unlike WWII when the media had guys like Ernie Pyle who were REAL journalists and covered events as much as they could, these days it is all about ratings and the money that results.

The media have NO loyalty to anything or anyone. They even tend to feed on themselves. My personal experience with them.

Having said that, it can be very easy to play them like fools...look at Stormin Norman Schwartzkopf.

It is an excellent tactic: disinformation. The bad guys watch CNN and Al-Jazzera, too. You send them off to the left, they blab it over the air, then you move right close with and destroy the enemy. You ruin the media's credibility with the enemy as well.
