This post was prompted by the topic about the death of Lt. Gen. Hal Moore. I'm making a separate thread here, as this would otherwise be so far down the number of posts that few would see it.

Music from, We Were Soldiers. I think it's the finest war movie yet made, although, Patton, The Last of the Mohicans, The Longest Day, and a few others are close rivals. Even the music is superior and well adapted to the scenes in the film.

I suggest going to YouTube and also listening to, In the Mansions of the Lord. It was in the movie, but I can't post everything here.

I think there were problems with, Saving Private Ryan that I can't discuss here. All I'll say is that I feel Spielberg had some difficulty in grasping the Ranger spirit. His cast performed more like a bunch of reluctant draftees. I think that attitude is endemic to Hollywood. The Rules here prevent me being more specific.

If you haven't seen, We Were Soldiers, do. You may need some tissue paper. There are scenes that will make many grown men cry. Mel Gibson did a superb job of playing then-Lt. Col. Moore. He deserved that Distinguished Service Cross. So did Sgt. Savage. If he's still with us, I'd be amazed if he doesn't have PTSD or at least some bad flashbacks or nightmares.

I can't find the main theme I want. But this, the departure music, is pretty good.
