As had been reported before, the Best Western that we had previously been having the Southwest Bunch meetings at has closed down its meeting room. Chad Gripp had said that renting the room had cost about $200 and that our meetings were generally 60-90 people. For the low end of attendance of 60 people, that works out to only $3.33 per person.
The least expensive alternative place that I've been able to find is a venue run by the Junior League of Tulsa at 36th and Yale, which is only a couple of miles south of the fairgrounds where the Wanenmacher show is held. It's not part of a hotel. Google Maps
They would charge $940, which for 60 people works out to $15.67 per person. I believe that the charge to attend the meeting in the past has been $25, which included catering by Rib Crib. To cover the increased venue cost the charge for the meeting would need to increase to at least $35-40 per person. Is this acceptable?
*edit* As pointed out in posts in the SWCA Lounge, the charge to attend the meetings has in the past been $15, not $25. (That's what I get for relying on my own memory.) Rib Crib catering currently charges $12.49 per person for a two-meat serving, not including tax, tip and any extras such as pop, ice, chips and dip. I don't know how that compares to years past.
That said, I believe the break-even cost for dinner would then be in the $25-30 range.
