Long time reader on the forum. I was especially interested by the post PzKfw5 made some time back about cylinder reaming the K22.

Having a pre-17 K22, ,I have not shot the gun for a long time due to the extremely difficult ejection of fired cases. After two cylinders of firing you literally needed a hammer to pound on the ejector rod to get the cases out. Had the same issues with a pre-18 but not quite as bad.

Bit the bullet and bought a finish cylinder reamer from Brownells. Following the advice given, I clamped the cylinder in the B&D workmate and reamed the cylinders.

The Pre-18 had minimal material on the rag when the reamer was cleaned and I had doubts there was any change. Test firing proved me wrong - huge change. Fired empties now eject with no effort.

The Pre-17 cylinder which was subjectively tighter had a lot more cuttings on the rag but cases now drop in and out with no force required.

Getting a quote from the gunsmith, I was told $100 per cylinder with an 8-10 week turnaround time.

Special thanks PzKfw5, you not only taught me a new skill but saved me $200 in gunsmithing fees. I found using a can of compressed air aids in cleaning the reamer. When clamping the B&D workmate, using the plastic dogs to hold the cylinder to prevent marring, the bench top made a good end stop for the reamer pilot and did not allow the shoulder on the reamer to touch the case head recess on the ejector.

Alll my best - GEC
