I am looking for a compatible speed loader for my wife’s Lady Smith .38 It has the stock wood grips and the safariland loaders say it depends on the grips thickness whether it will work. They don’t specify if they work with stock grips. Any one know what works for it? Thanks, Jim

J-frame? I have found that the HKS work with most grips. I recently tried out the Safariland Comp I, and it doesn't work with the stock grips on my 60, Crimson Trace on my 442, or Altamont boots on the same 60.

The HKS isn't my favorite, with the twist, but they do work with more grip combinations due to the fact that they don't need to go fully against the face of the cylinder.

Thanks for the suggestions, none of the shops in my area have them for this gun and I will have to order off the net without trying them.

On another note I’m not sure how this ended up in the auto forum, my mistake I guess.

When you say that your Lady Smith has the standard grips on it are you talking the Magna style or the Combat J Frame style?

I have a 36LS with a three inch barrel that has the Combat grips on it as standard issue.

I am not sure what the others may have.

If it is the Combat style grips let me know and I will check with HKS and the Safariland loaders and let you know.

Probably yes. I’d need some kinda speedloader to run .38’s in my 3913 Lady Smith. ;)

He already noticed it’s misplaced earlier today.

Smart azz in every crowd. And no it’s not in the right forum as said in a reply above

I sent the OP a private message asking is this a 5-shot or a 6-shot LS.
It can only be a K-frame or J-frame Ladysmith in .38 (yes I know the 65LS is a .357 but whatever)
The most likely .38 Ladysmith is a 36 or a 60, and j-frame speedloaders are everywhere at great prices. Figure $12 for a Safariland and $9 for an HKS.

It’s a 642 LS Lady Smith j frame .38 5 shot

Thanks squid, I’m sure with such thin grips either will work

Then I am not sure, if it is the standard new J frame rubber boot grips from S&W that either will work.

I have replaced all my newer J frame grips with the old Uncle Mikes boot grips in order to get speed loader clearance.

If it is the wooden boot grips I have no idea if they work.

If you want to try Safariland or HKS send me a PM and I can send you one of each to try.
