Speedloaders - How Do You Carry Them?

I find speed strips much less bulky and with a little practice, not much slower...

I agree. I've always got one in my pocket for my J frame Bodyguard and Ray over at Lobo Gunleather is making me a pouch for one as we speak, to fit one of the Tuff Products 8 round speed strips!

My idea is to load it with 6 rounds, using the "space" method that I and a lot of others use when loading a 5 shot J frame. Two rounds up front, skip a space, three more rounds in the strip. But with the 8 round strip, the setup will be...2 rounds, skip one, 2 rounds, skip one, 2 rounds.

I just think it makes it easier to work with in your hand. Speed strips may be a little slower than a speedloader, but if I gotta reload, I hope to God I'm behind cover and concealment anyway!

For the last couple of years, I've been carrying a speedloader by simply throwing it in my pocket. Whenever I go to retrieve it, it's always on it's side or upside down, so I've decided to try and find a suitable carrier.

I'm looking at the Don Hume Pack Six, and the Slimloader Pouch by Andrews Leather.

I was wondering who carries a speedloader, and they do it? Anything out there I'm overlooking?

I carry 1 speedloader and 1 speedstrip in urban/social situations, and 2 speedloaders in a pouch when in the woods. I've read Mas A. and seen Jerry M. video about switching hands to reload being faster, but I like to keep the firing grip and manipulate the speedloader with my support hand. It keeps manual of arms the same as with an autoloader. Prefer to carry the pouches in the front, whenever possible, rather than behind hip, though.

Simply Rugged makes one similar to Andrews at $25 rather than $45. I've also been looking at the Safariland 3in-3out style (SAF-371 ).

I started using a cell phone holder after another forum member suggested it.Its made by Bucket Boss and is deep and wide enough for mags, speed strips or speedloaders. Its used by carpenters and is sold alongside nail pouchs and such. Best thing is it doesn't look like a speedloader pouch.

That is an excellent idea. I think I will try that.

Most of the time I carry 2 speed strips in my left pants pocket-gun on right hip OWB. In the winter I sometimes put the HKS loader in a coat pocket.

I've always just thown the HKS in a front pocket if I'm using a belt holster. Is it the best solution? No. A second gun is the best solution.

The only problem with Andrews is that you cannot contact them to place an order. I've tried for months using the phone number they provide on their website, but no one ever answers and there's no answering machine. I even tried sending them a hand written letter asking how to place an order. No reply. I have to assume they're out of business.

A holder similar to that Andrews product was made by DelFatti and sold by Dillon. I'm not sure if Dillon still carries it. I think it was made for moonclipped cartridges but it looks like it could be made to hold speedloaders as well.

Hey would you happen to have a pic of this, or possibly a model number as there are a few models out there.

I prefer the speed strips (Tuff Products) in a flat belt pouch.

Earlier a mention was made of the revolver-smith Grant Cunninghan; his wife makes an interesting speed loader pouch, it holds the loader horizontally above the belt, , very concealable. Because it is horizontal doesn't matter if you use a Comp ll , Comp lll or other style.
I have used one for some time and find it very effective worn on the gun side behind the holster.

In regular pants, I carry mine in my left front pocket.

I've got a pair of hiking shorts that I wear during exercise walks. They have cargo pockets and on the outside of the cargo pocket is a small pocket just big enough for the speed loader. It doesn't move at all, and hasn't even come close to falling out in a bunch of five mile walks.
