Spikes CAR-1 question...

I just received my CAR-1 from Spikes. I was under the impression that I had to remove the cap at the end of the quad rail so the shroud could go in, but the "can" I got stops just about 3/16" before the cap so I just left the cap on.

Seems like some people, from what I've read, removed the cap. Did Spikes change this, or what?

Anyone with a CAR-1 care to comment?!?

I have been wanting to get one of these too. Could you provide a link to the one you folks are getting that works with the 15-22?

Thanks

Interesting, mine just goes under the handrail. hmmm... not sure if they shortened it a tad.

this is the one I used, it goes over the barrel. There are other ones that add lenght. I used RRages can on my 223, looks nice also but pricey.

I couldnt resist anymore, I went ahead and ordered one of these bad boys!

Or you can go this route. These are lighter, not as busy as the 10,000 dimples and no annoying advertising. And 100% made in U.S.A. Oregon actuallty.
Just add a .com to the name.

Tacticool, you definitely have some cool stuff I chose the Spikes one for a few reasons

Spikes weight 7oz
yours .5lb=8oz

There are no dimples on it it is a smooth can(or so it seems so in the pics)

You can choose the option to have no writing on it so they are plain black, which is the option I chose

Spikes has a very good well known reputation

Spikes is $10 cheaper.

You make some very cool stuff! Thanks for your input!

Please dont take offence to this, I just decided to go a different way.

I got mine, if I leave the crush washer on I dont need to take the cap of the quad rail, but it looks goofy at the end of the barrel because you can still see some threads. If I take the cruch washer off it threads all the way down and I need to take the cap off the quad rail.

Are you guys removing your crush washer of leaving it on?

I recommend a crush washer so the shroud does not work loose. We have 3/4" of material so the muzzle is always recessed and protected.
Our long threaded shroud weighs less than 4Oz. The weights shown on the website are for shipping.
No offence, everybody has their preference. :)

Very good, thanks for the tips, much appreciated.

so might be a dumb question but does the spikes need to have a threaded barrel or can i put it on my non threaded? and how does it secure itself?

I bought the longer one off of you but now I'm wishing I had the shorter one too so I can change them every so often! I agree, very lightweight and no advertising. How much are you selling the shorter ones for again?
