Spyderco Knives

I've heard a lot of good things about Spyderco but can't bring myself to buy one because they're ugly.
I have about 30 nice folders but the one I use the most is a Buck. It's an auto opener with a liner lock. I bought it for my wife but she can't push the lock. Also she is afraid of it.
I'm a little afraid of it too because it's pink! It will be kind of a relief if I lose it.

I'm with you. My knives have to look as good as they perform. I realize this is all subjective but I'll stick to the Benchmade assisted opening knives that I own. But even some of Benchmades knives are ugly too!

Did I say they have to look good?:p

Are you talking about the one in, "The Hunter" or the one that Lecter had in the book? The Lecter knife has some fancy name indicative of its purpose, I think. Talon? Hawksbill? I haven't time to hunt around here for the book now. I may not have kept it.

If the Delica blade is that short, I have some other model, as my blade is about four inches.

Did anyone else see, "The Hunter"? I hope I have the title right.

The knife name is stated in the book, "Hannibal." I guess you mean the movie knife?

Look at post No. 5 in this thread. My knife looks like the second and third, but has a partially serrated blade like on the silver one just below. What have I got? I've never seen a Spyderco catalog. Someone at Spyderco gave me the knife, if memory serves.

The Hunter? Looks like a Delica.

Hannibal Lecter? Harpy in Italy. Then another Harpy and a Civilian and another in the US.

4th knife down in post 5 looks like an Endura, 3¾" blade. Different models of the Endura have plain blade, partially serrated, fully serrated.

Spyderco = good knives. Or is that knifes? ;)

Does anyone know the Spyderco model used by the father who stabbed a cougar attacking his little son at a lodge in Big Bend Natl. Park some months ago?

I saw a photo and it is def. a Spyderco, with about a three-inch blade. It seems not to have penetrated enough to reach vital organs on the big cat and he didn't cut the throat. It escaped, but the boy survived, with some stitches. I think the family is interviewed in a YouTube video, but don't have time now to search for it.

T-Star,
I read somewhere on the internet that it was a Spyderco Calypso 3.5

I always have a Spyderco folder as EDC. The smallest would be the Dragonfly, and the largest I carry is a Delica.
