Our 17 year old dishwasher died the other day. I've narrowed my search down to two brands, Bosch & Miele.
Anyone have any experience with either of these?
Thanks

We got a Bosch one year ago, and like it a lot. We had a stainless GE Profile implode after just 3 1/2 years of light duty. IMHO, the newer GE appliances are garbage. Ironic, since they used to be among the best, thank you NAFTA... ;(

The Bosch seems well built, energy efficient, and it is quiet. Our dishes come out perfect, unlike with the GE. It's also made in North Carolina, USA, and there's a lot to be said about that, these days...!

Another thing I like about the Bosch, is that it does not have a conventional heating element, to dry the dishes. Instead of using all sorts of electricity to cook/steam off your water, their system just takes advantage of evaporation (after the hot water rinse). You just have to use a 'drying' agent, and you get great results. Use the brand they recommend, "Finish, jet Dry," it works great, and you save electricity...

YMMV, but that's been my experience.

We have a Bosch and really like it. We've had it for maybe 5+ years (can't remember exactly). It's been flawless.

It's SUPER quiet and you can't even tell its running. Sometimes I have to put my hand on the front door to 'feel' it running. Our model (??) has buttons on the top of the door so there's nothing showing from the outside.

We bought a Bosch about 2 1.2 years ago for $980 at Lowe's and it's simply fantastic! It cleans EVERYTHING and we have not had a single issue with it. You must use a rinse agent with it, along with the soap, but it does a great job and it's so quiet you can't hear it run!

We installed one of Bosche's less expensive DW's in 2003. It's quiet, has never needed any repair, and does a great job cleaning. And I don't use a rinse agent. It also get's the cheapest generic, powdered DW detergent, and not very much of it either (I really stretch the stuff).

My wife tore down our old house and built our "retirement cottage" in its place. We started with a clean slate. Went shopping to all the big box stores and did some things I never thought I'd do. We decided that of all places, Sears had the best overall deal. Then we selected the Bosch. Seems like they're kicking everyone elses tail right now. But the dishwasher was the only thing of that brand.

Instead of getting everything "matching", as in all the same brand, we picked and choose the appliances we felt were best. Brand loyality wasn't even considered.

I thought this thread was about a 17 yr. old robot girl

I wish, please, to know more about these seventeen year old robot girls. Do they come in various racial styles, sizes, shapes, colors, or other possibly appealing permutations? And, at seventeen, are parts available, or are they functionally obsolete?

Have bought and installed two new bosch's in last two houses we lived in. I WILL buy another again if I move!

Stainless steel is like most other things, they make different grades and thicknesses. I suggest you familarize yourself with the differences on the net and inquire as to the construction, not so much the brand. That's why some are rated heavy duty and some or not, even though they may just the talking about the motor size and only the bades, not the containment element. Just a thought.
