I traded for a M60 pro. It has the stainless satin finish. The gun was like new in box except it had a set of rubber grips put on it. I went to remove grips and found some tarnish along the left top of frame where grips covered. I was able to rub out some of the tarnish but not all. Is there a way to remove this tarnish and keep the satin finish. The new grips I am going to use will not cover all of the discolored area.

I went to Home Depot and got a pack of the grey Scotch Brite pads and very carefully and lightly rubbed in a sort of semicircular pattern. My stainless example was a Model 639 semiauto, made of similar if not the same alloy and with similar matte texture.

These should do the job.

IIRC, the Model 60 Pro Series has a bead blast type finish and isn't like most of their stainless guns. I'd be real careful with a Scotchbrite pad or anything abrasive.

I'd try Nevr-Dull on an inconspicuous area and see how it does. Go lightly...

saw an idea on the web to use white vinegar and baking soda. Use a Q tip to rub in and remove tarnish. Any one tried that. I don't want any bright spots on finish.

Have you tried soaking it in a solvent. It might just be dried lubricant that has saturated the surface pores. As for vinegar, vinegar is acetic acid, it will remove blueing, but it will not damage stainless and baking soda is a very mild abrasive. I'd try a good solvent first, acetone is great for dissolving oil, mineral spirits is slower, but does not evaporate as fast, automatic transmission fluid is also pretty good at dissolving oil deposits and grunge.

0000 steel wool and any gun oil , CLP , WD40 , bore solvent , kerosene you happen to have lying around .
Little secrete ... it's just a little "rust" stainless steel will rust under rubber grips ... no big deal , just rub it out .
Put a thin layer of good gun grease or a couple coats of good car wax under the grips ... these products will stay longer and protect under the rubber grips .

Don't use vinegar on your gun ... mineral spirts , carb / brake cleaner , acetone , gun scrubber ...vinegar is ...Harsh !

Ehhhh... I'd avoid the steel wool. Steel wool will tend to polish the bead blasted finish and it is possible to get tiny steel particles into the surface of the stainless, which can lead to future discoloration if the wool particles begin to rust.
