State-of-the-art Varmint Rifle

Barrels for the .220 especially older ones would be suspect. The cartridge was a barrel-burner before better steel and powder calmed things down a bit.

That's one reason I won't touch a used varmint rifle. I've owned several that still looked mint, but had several thousand rounds through them. Top level accuracy can start dropping off in 1,000 to 1,500 rounds with some cartridges.
