Stimulus check today

The three grandkids here each got $500. I explained to each why they were getting it and that it was theirs and not ours. I also told them that Ruthie and I would help them decide how best to use it.

That's my boy.

I informed the IRS of my account a month ago and got a deposit for both of us 10 days later. Last week I got a letter from the White House that a deposit was forthcoming.

Like John, my wife and I received our stimulus paper check by mail ($2400) on May 6, 2020. I have always done our taxes by hand on paper and early this year I was running late because of being out of town and not getting our taxes done as usual. Luckily the IRS extended the filing deadline until July 15 of this year. I electronically filed our 2019 income tax about 2 weeks ago. My wife and I both draw Social Security and its electronically deposited into our bank accounts, so why we received a paper check in the mail is a puzzle to me. I guess its because I never filed electronically before or had them send the refund electronically also. Funny how we get set in our ways of doing things. I deposited the stimulus check and as soon as things get on an even keel again I'll get the wife the new refrigerator she has been wanting. I've already spent my part. Amazing after being married to the same woman for close to 59 years now that during all those years I have filed income tax with her name correct at all times and the United States Treasury sends a stimulus check with her name spelled wrong. Figure that one out.
I am really not complaining, just glad to have gotten the check.
(P.S.) I didn't get to buy a new gun with my money as it is going to pay the Dentist with considerable more money added.

stimulus check

Ours came by mail for a very odd amount including pennies after the decimal point. I deposited it and promptly made a donation to Food Bank of Iowa for more than the check was.

I thought it was really silly when I received a form letter from Pres. Trump telling me I would be getting the check I already spent. They had the number exactly right though.

We got ours about three weeks ago, but just stuck it in in a drawer. The government insists that the funds are tax-free. Yeah, sure. I fully expect to see a 1099 form in the mail in Jan, and the funds be considered as income. I don't trust anything the government says - especially the irs.
