Stimulus Checks

My accountant said, " when you make a lot of money, you pay a lot in taxes...

Got the full amount in my account early this morning.👍😀

I don't remember who said it, but some pro basketball player a few years ago said something like, "we make lots of money because we spend lots of money".:rolleyes:

Unbelievable! In and among all this going on....and being without income....... The tax man sends six weeks of fishing gas money!!!!

WOW!

I'm damn proud to be an AMERICAN!!!!:):):)

I have my withholding at a level where I normally pay every year, so my small payment will be an eventual paper check. I will not cash it, I'm going to frame it. It will have the Presidents signature in the memo line, so my grand kids will likely see the time it will be a collectors item.

...saw an article about a guy checking for his stimulus payment...

...his account had a deposit of 8.2 million dollars in it...

...he double checked while deciding what he was going to do...and it was gone...

My wife and I are set to retire the end of May. Over the years we have made OK money, nothing great, we raised two kids, paid for everything along the way and managed to save a little for the "golden years" (a whole other falsehood). I grumbled about taxes along the way like most probably have. I have a couple rental properties and people tell me oh you can deduct everything so that helps you on taxes. It's a big game, they want you to spend money so get a percentage of a deduction back off of your taxes. I will gladly take pay the taxes for the higher income, that is how it works and if I manage it well, I should be just fine.

No check here yet as my wife the accountant checked today. Either way, if we get one or not, it isn't going to change my life. Stay safe and be happy and blessed in all things!

We got ours today as well. The money will be well spent on American involved business only!

We got $795 deposited today.
Not even close to the max $2900 for two working adults with 1 dependent kid at home.
We made too much $ last year to get the full amount. As expected, I knew they'd figure out a way to screw us out of it - or most of it.
And yeah, that is how I look at it. With our income we've paid well over a half a million bucks in taxes over the last 40 years.
But because we pay so much in taxes (higher than average income) we get less benefit than people who haven't paid nearly as much into the system.
That's the way it always works. The harder you work, and more you earn, the more they take in order to give it to someone else.
How's that go? "FROM each according to his ability, TO each according to his need". Sound familiar?

I have a very different take on this. I will get nothing from the Stimulus Package and I thank God I live in a time and place when my family can do well enough not to need this money. I don't begrudge a penny of it to those who need it. This is the government doing its job in a once in a lifetime crisis; it's also 3400 years of Judaeo-Christian tradition. It has nothing to do with socialism or communism. As Oliver Wendell Holmes said, "Taxes are the price we pay for civilization."

I don't begrudge anybody else getting the money either. I'm sure there are a lot who need it worse than we do. In that sense, I agree, it is a real 1st world problem and as problems go its a good one to have. That doesn't make me feel any better for having paid as much as I have in taxes over the years though.

As to the 3400 years of Judaeo-Christian tradition, that tradition is of the Synagogue, Church, and private philanthropy taking care of orphans and widows. Not government theft of 30%-50% of what working people earn to be re-distributed with zero accountability to almost anyone holding their hand out. Or for so much of it being wasted on administration, fraud, and theft, as well as going to things the government has no business being involved in to begin with.

The Judaeo-Christian tradition is that of my FREELY giving to those in need, and I still do, even though taxes take such a big bite. But I could afford to give a whole lot more to causes I believe in if they didn't take 1/3 of it away from me. Besides, there's no virtue in doing something you're forced to do.
Remember: God loves a cheerful GIVER - not God loves those who are forced to "give" by being taxed to death. :D

Unfortunately a lot of things our taxes go for aren't the price of "civilization" - a lot of them are in fact barbaric and/or fraudulent. Just my opinion.

If you do the photo deposit thing with your bank you can cash it and keep the check.
