Has anyone out there tried to stipple their magazines? Thinking of doing the indented areas. My only concern is screwing up (damaging how it feeds) the mag. I guess a light touch, and careful not to melt/burn all the way through. Anyone??

For what purpose?

Holding the magazine when firing is an excellent way to induce stoppages in this and the 5.56mm version.

I don't get it either. Perhaps some people might have too much free times.

I think he means for grip to and from the gun. Someone on here did their grip. Looked good, do a search, should come up.

light coat of spray on bed liner
or
just"texture" paint (and your expert ducktape placement)

Why do anything...

Why does anybody change anything, all kinds of reasons....maybe they are bored, they want a different look, how about so it works better for them, etc. Thats why there are companys out there making aftermaket products, Magpul,Tapco, UYG, to name a few. Stippling the mags.... I'm just looking to get a better grip when handling them and yes I know not hold the mag when firing the rifle. Please excuse me for the rant, but from what I have read (on this web site and others) most people have do one thing or another to their rifle.

I'd say give it a try. Sounds like it'd look cool. And if you screw up really bad, a new mag is only $15.

I'm with Chuck! Adjust your support grip up on the lower, don't use the mag as a support grip. Bad technique.

Need a vert grip...try a grip pod.

Aim small,

He already clarified that he knows better than to do that, why dont you read before you criticize.

To the op go for it, I stippled all of my p-mags for my ar and have been more than happy with the results just havent gotten around to doing the 15-22 mags yet. It has provided me with a better feel for and grip on the mags during quick mag changes, and mag changes under stressful situations. Quite a few of the guys from local swat teams and tactical shooting schools that I shoot with have had me stipple their p-mags as a result of seeing/using mine.

Because stippling EVERYTHING seems to be the new tacticool fad these days.

As far as holding by the magazine, I grip my 15-22 from the magwell with my ring and pinky fingers on the magazine body and have NEVER had a stoppage while shooting like that.
