I just found a nice pair of -teens style K-frame grips with the gold medallions at a good price- $40. On the back of the right grip is stamped 84956 in very small numerals. It strikes me that these must have been from a .32-20, and from around WWI, maybe 1917-1919, from that serial number. Any disagreement?
They are not in top condition,, but not that bad either, with checkering showing some wear but in pretty good shape. I'll probably clean them up with solvent and give them a few coats of Danish oil finish Any suggestions on what to use on the gold medallions to shine them up? One medallion is fairly dark, with the other somewhat better.
