Stock up!

I thought people believed in free markets and no government intervention? Econ 101: the buyers in a market set the prices, not the sellers. Assuming that there is no restraint-of-trade, i.e. conspiracy to withhold sales or agree on prices, and no false advertising, a box of ammo is worth what people are willing to pay for it. If people are willing to pay $190 for a 200 round box of 9mm, that's what it's worth. When we quit paying a dollar a round for this stuff, the price will fall.

Probably around Thanksgiving 2021.

10 boxes of Federal match .45 ammo still in the brown cardboard boxes delivered to US Army in 1982. 6 boxes of standard GI ball, also F-C 82. Five boxes of the original Winchester Black Talon 230-JHP. 1400 rounds of 200-SWC reloads.

I'm thinking about $5000, and I can deliver to most continental US addresses, arrive with my fishing gear, and really enjoy the trip.

Also in stock now: .38 Special, 9X19, .357 magnum, .40 S&W, .44 Special, .380, .30 Carbine, .32-20, .25-20, .218 Bee, .45-70, .45-90, .30-06, .30-30, and a few others. A paid vacation (for me) in every box!

Send cash in plain unmarked envelopes, then watch for me cruising by slowly late at night and tossing your purchase in your front yard.

Of course, this post is a satirical joke in response to the notion of paying $2-plus per round of very common ammunition.

Just got an email CTD has 230gr 45acp ball ammo for ONLY $129/bx of 50.
How can they sell it so cheap?
Oh yeah, plus shipping. Limit 1.

That price really right or is it joke?

Ammo prices I knew had creeped but that's insane.

Covid kept the 3 gun stuff a no-go last summer ammo going to be the issue this season?

Gun prices do not seem to be very strong presently but the ammo I sell I can buy some "Game Stop" :p

This post has me staggering

Yep. I've only been loading for 8 years but it's more than paid for itself. I got my first 45 about 3 years ago, a CMP 1911. Wasn't gonna pay the huge sum of $23 for a box of 50 so I got some dies and cranked them out. Now three years later, 2 other .45 pistols, and nearly 1000 rounds loaded, with the ability to load 1000 more, I'm good for the future.

But when this is all over, I will become a stockpiler of components. I'm good for the next year or so at least, but would feel more comfortable wit more.

Couple of months ago there was a post about CTD being fined for gouging. They can easily afford to pay the fine as long as some dopes pay their outlandish prices. I haven't t spent a dollar with them for at least 15 years.

Casting your own 38 / 44 / 45 projectiles sure makes it so the wife & I shot IDPA every weekend from spring till winter set in here in the north east.

I bet I have scrounged up 2k lbs of lead mostly wheelweights before they changed to zinc alloy by law.

The initial cost is high but casting maxwell house cans of bullets sure is worth it imo, wife & I could never afford the IDPA every weekend without it.

Same as me. Cast some 9's & 45's this morning while running my Mec 20. I always ahve 2-3 ops going at 1 time in the bullet factory.

Sorry, no joke. The same email also listed .22WMR 500 round bricks at $399, 20 round boxes of PDX 9mm for $69, and Anderson AR stripped lowers which we're running $49 for a staggering $299.
I wonder if you get a job there, if they give you a mask?
Shameless!

I can't believe anyone is paying that kind of money. Even if I had no ammo and we were in a state of civil conflict I wouldn't pay that. Improvise and adapt. Sling shots, bows and plenty of unconventional weapons can be made/acquired if you want to go down that rabbit hole.
The spirit of free markets and supply and demand do not excuse that kind of greed. They will be remembered when the smoke clears.

50 pieces of Gold

Wow! That's crazy. I reloaded 50 45ACP cartridges the other day.

I might have to re-calculate, but it is in the ballpark of $12.50 for the
50 cartridges I reloaded.

Interesting Times.

Was not long ago primers & powder had been impossible to get some of you may remember that.

I see some are asking 1k rds 9mm for $1k FTF at another forum, GREED has to be raised to #1 spot of the seven deadly sins.

As far as I am concerned CTD went out of business a couple of shortages ago! They canceled my order because they "said they were out of stock ". Two hours later the item was back in stock at 4 times the price! Never gone back - never will. I know it's a free market, but I will vote with my wallet and shop elsewhere! YMMV

By the way, our LGS sells .380 for the lowly sum of $120/box.

Civilians should not be allowed to purchase ammunition without a government approved registration, background check and national gun/ammunitions ID card.

No more than 100 rounds should be allowed to be purchased per year. Cards will be stamped at time of purchase to track all transactions.

I'm calling my government to stop these gun terrorists at once!

Thin ice ahead.

Thin ice ahead.

UH-oh, they listened!

ABC reporter asked about the Joe Biden promise to close the "gun show loophole" on day 1.

Susan rice responded by saying expect EO's on "gun violence prevention" in the next week.

There you have it, Mandatory background checks in all states, on all firearm sales, by the stroke of a pen.
