Stop Signs In Parking Lots

... Whether I am driving or walking I don't assume anything from other people. If I'm ever in doubt as to what the other person is going to do I let them go first....

True. But it doesn't keep me from becoming furious about the single digit IQ mindset of the inconsiderate, self centered, self important nimrods who do it.

The way a LEO friend explained it to me about parking lot tickets was if they’re not official signs the cops did not enforce laws (speeding , right of way, stop signs)

Fire lane and handicapped things were enforceable if it was signed according to law. I know I have seen many PD tickets handed out for fire lane violators and people abusing handicapped parking in private lots IN MY AREA. Your locations might be different!

Here its enforced when they have the people to do it. I was at a Drs appt and happened to be looking out a 5th storey window and watched a team cruising the parking lot writing tickets and taking pictures.

This is correct. My wife was backed into by another car a couple of years ago and that's what the police told her "They had no authority there". However; The police will write tickets when someone parks in a handicap spot in a private lot if the are notified about this.
Additionally hasn't anyone stopped to consider have they can have car racing events in non-municipal parking lots? Well; It's because they are private property.

Private property, stop signs become a suggestion/nice idea.

As a general point, this "pedestrian has the right of way" game is just asinine. It dates back to before the invention of the car to give stupid humans right of way over livestock. It does not work with a distracted driver in 5500 lbs of Chevy Tahoe. Can we move on into the 21st Century now, please.

I grew up in busy suburban London. The rules were simple; use the correct crossings, NEVER cross at junctions if you can avoid it (something that Europe and the US disagree on) and generally stay out of the road unless you want to die. This worked back in the 1960s and I'll bet it applies x10 now.
