so I just ordered my m&p 49 and want to get a conversion barrel.
My question is what kind of experience does anyone have with either of these barrels. Fte, ftf, ftc. Any issues?

My Storm Lake barrels (40-9 conversion for 40FS, ported 40-9 conversion for 40FS, and 40-9 conversion for 40c) have all been flawless - no issues of any kind. Accuracy is as good or better than the factory 40 barrels.

Assuming you have an M&P 40, I have put several thousand rounds through my 40c 9mm Storm Lake conversion barrel with zero malfunctions of any sort. Great accuracy and cheap practice.

While I have not put a 9mm barrel in my 40, I have been on this forum for a while.

I watched as guys tried this conversion for the very first time, when some said it couldn't be done..

And from what I have seen, in fact I started posts and polls asking about converting to 9mm, by far the fewest problems to go from .40 to 9mm are when you use a factory S&W barrel.

Many more guys complained the Storm needed to be fit by a gunsmith or sent back.

Maybe it's different now, but the S&W barrel has worked the best. Finding one could be a challenge now.... but they should cost around $60 - $65 .

.

Lost Lake is correct. I had issues with Storm Lake .40 to 9mm conversion barrel. I've had no issue with my KKM barrel. I can heartily recommend them. If you can find a S&W barrel, they would be good also, but good luck finding one.

Zero issues with a Storm Lake 40 to 9 and zero issues with a factory 9 both used in my M&P 40. I bought the Storm Lake to get an extended and threaded barrel for a suppressor and have been very happy with it. Zero malfunctions with either. I have over a 1,000 rounds down range with each. You'll probably have the best luck finding an aftermarket barrel if your wanting one right now.

Zero issues with Storm Lake 9mm barrel in my in my M&P 40 FS. Drops right in, accurate as heck. No complaints here after just under 1000 rounds.

I purchased a Storm Lake barrel for a Glock 20, and it has been flawless. I wouldn't hesitate to order another from them.

unless something has changed, Lone Wolf doesn't make a conversion barrel for the M&P, just for Glock.
so, that leaves only Storm Lake or KKM.
i have a Storm Lake and love it. no issues in the year i've had it.

Just got a notice that Midway has the Storm Lake barrel for my 40L. Should have it early next week. Now I need to get some 9MMs and I'll be ready to rock and roll.

I have a Storm Lake, IMO no difference than the stock barrel. According to my gunsmithing buddy, he thinks S&W barrels are very good to start with, but KKM would be an upgrade.

When I received my first SL 9mm barrel it wouldn't even allow the slide to go back all the way on my 40c, so I sent it back. After about a month I received it back and saw that they had milled it more (before just the corners were milled off, now it was milled completely around). Although the slide would now go almost all the way back, it still did not work. Another month and it was returned- actually a totally different barrel as l checked again what was changed. This one works fine. SL paid postage both ways both times and they did stand behind their product. I just couldn't understand their fitment control. They lost on this and I had to wait nearly 3 months for a working barrel. But I must say that it's worked flawlessly for about 2 years now.
