I mentioned that I just bought a new 4566TSW in another thread and about the problem I had with a Corbon round with no powder tying up and freezing the slide up. Just prior to this(same ammo) I had a fail to feed that was sort of odd and never had this one happen before.

Instead of nose diving upward into the chamber, this particular time it was nose down with the rim of the cartridge high above the breach area(or firing pin hole). Any ideas what could have caused this?

This is a new 4566TSW-never been fired until yesterday. I used one of the three magazines that came in the box. The followers are black.

Try all your magazines and see if any of them are more or less reliable than the others. Have you tried other brands of ammo?

You had a Corbon round with no powder in the case? If so I would let Corbon know. First off it's expensive ammo and that should not happen with proper QC. Also if they get multiple reports they may need to check that lot.

It could also be that the Corbon your running is too hot for the stock recoil spring. Strange feeding incidents in an auto are often caused by a week/to light for load, recoil spring.

Using Federal's 185 gr HP's, I had no problems feeding or extracting. I've never had any sort of problem with the 4506 gobbling up any and every imaginable load put in it. Perhaps part of the one fail to feed was simply due to the fact it was taken from the counter where I had just picked it up, to the range on the other side of the door and only oiled the barrel, slide rails and guide rod before shooting.

I didn't have any new ammo-all had a few years on it and thought I'd just shoot it up. With the FTF exception there were no more glitches save the one that got stuck in the chamber. The problem with getting in touch with Corbon is that the box of 50 I had was bought long ago-around 1990-1995 and I don't think they would honor a request for a new box with ammo that old-may be wrong but it could be worth a try.

I shutter to think what would have happened if I had a magazine full of those rounds and if a confrontation at home had occurred I would have been up the creek. Of course, I wouldn't use ammo that old for SD purposes but, just a scenario.

My 4506 has had no less that 200 rounds of that same type of ammo from Corbon with the stock spring and never a hiccup so, I naturally figured it's little brother would fair just as well as the basic difference is the shortened barrel and a few refinements the 4506 didn't have.

I think the 4506 has a stock spring of 14# and the 4566 has an 18# spring...maybe 17#. At any rate, that old box of Corbon's was disposed of and I'll use something else next trip to the range. It sort of leaves a bad taste in your mouth about Corbon after trusting it for so long.

It's just one of those hitches with an auto you intend to carry. I could show you a .380 load that is REAL impressive, problem is, its too hot for every blowback gun I have to run reliably..... Nice thing about the larger caliber autos is the spring selection that is available.

I decided to write Corbon about the problems I had with the "powderless" round tying my pistol up and they were fast and super with a response...

"Good morning , I am very sorry that happened. I would like to know what the lot number of the ammo is. The lot number will be stamped on the inside flap of the box of ammo. I also would like to replace that ammo with 2 boxes of ammo for you. I reason I would like to have the lot number is to track down when and who loaded the ammo, This is the only way we can correct the problem. Our ammo is loaded on automated machinery and I want to find out why the checks did not work. We can go back and look at the data and see if we had a sensor failure or just pure operator error. Once again I am truly sorry this happened as you say, this would have been a very serious problem for you. Please let me know what I and our company can do to help. Sincerely yours, Paul Mayer, Prod. Unfortunately, I couldn't provide him a lot number as the remaining few rounds with box was disposed of. At least I got a quick turn around response and a willing to rectify the situation. I haven't heard back from them but may indeed get a couple boxes from the unusual encounter.

CS9

I acquired a very nice ss CS9 yesterday and spent the morning deep cleaning and familiarizing myself with the weapon. Haven't fired it yet. My problem is that if I rack a round and try to drop the mag with the round in the chamber the top round in the mag has moved forward enough to stop the mag ejection, have to pull it out. If I cycle quickly throuh the entire mag there are no jams so I assume it would be ok to fire. I've looked at everything and am leaning towards the mag itself. Unfortunately it only came with one mag. I'm going to order another one ($33 from Midway ) but thought you guys might have some opinions.

Comdiver welcome to the forum. That is normal. My 3913 does it, and my 4516 too. No worries.

I do remove the mags after chambering a round and replace the loose round in the mag while I top off. No malfunctions with the 3913 yet. Regards 18DAI.
