Stuff we used to do back then that you couldn't do now

One thing my wife mentioned. With all the overprotective parents today that are worried their kid might get a scratch, they still don't have seat belts on school buses.
I got into an argument with a guy on another forum cause I said I ignored the law and rode my quad 5-10 mph on the ice, ice fishing without a helmet. He thought I was going to get thrown off and get a severe concussion.
I know this is a tangent of the thread, but.....Buses are safer in collisions without them, and can be evacuated much more quickly. Buses don't have seat belts for good reason. A bus goes into a pond or stalls on railroas, tracks or catches fire, there's no way way to get all the kids off in time to save any of them.

Not meaning to argue but I don't think I buy into that explanation. It takes less than a second to release a seat belt. Any kid old enough to ride a bus can undo a seatbelt.

Take a bus driver education class and evacuate a bus and your mind will change. One kid, one panicky pre kindergartener or unconscious kid is all it takes to turn it bad and delay enough. Buses burn up in flame, fill up with water, and trains move too fast.

The data is there and has been for years.
