Stumbled upon a new one today and it shoots! Update post 31

Had I had that experience I think my head would have exploded!

As to price , I think it is ok to ask ; my prefix is usually "May I ask..." Value is a base topic of this forum ; curiosity is normal. No obligation on the part of the OP.

I bought a 2nd model in just about that same shape when i
walked out of a small local Gun show last year. (30) tables.
The guy said he got no offers on it and was taking it home.
I offered him 500 and he took it.
However mine was not the target model.

Congrats on a nice pick up.

Well I was out repairing a windshield at a customers house today. This very nice older couple just happen to look at the rear window of my truck(NRA sticker)and asked if I like guns, of course I do I said.

This happens form time to time but most of the time it's shotguns or 22's. Well to my surprise he walked out with this, I was in shock! Not only is it a pre war N frame in 44 special but it has target sights! Needless to say the windshield could have exploded and I wouldn't have noticed.

We talked for about two hours and they were telling me that her grandfather bought it new in Texas and it's been in the family for years. The only reason why they sold it to me was they didn't have anyone to had it down to. I put there minds at ease and guaranteed them it was going to a good home. Enjoy....

Super nice gun and you are super lucky!! As grannie would say "I would rather have your luck than have a license to steal". Larry

This is a great story, thanks for sharing it.
Now for the 'back' story....or, more to the point, the 'background' story.

I am curious to hear the story about how the S&W logo was created in that slab of granite. It's really something all by itself.

Thanks for incurring about the logo. I had a custom case made for my growing S&W collection, 12 drawers 6 on each side, they're 3ft wide, 2ft long and 4" deep. Got lucky with the granite, people ordered it for a kitchen and they didn't like it so they got stuck with it. The logo was an after thought, when they delivered it, I was like ok it's nice but can you do this? In a couple days it was finished, they printed out the logo then transferred it to wood. From there they sand plasted, it was the first time they ever tried it and it turned our perfect. Only problem is I need another case.

Amazingly good fortune. Wonderful revolver and even better story. I am sure the old couple is happy to know it went to someone who would really appreciate such a special gun.
I do not own a weapon I would spend the effort for a letter, that said, I would letter this one.

Bravo and Congrats to you George. Just because you had an NRA sticker on your window, doesn't mean they necessarily would have told you about it or sold it to you, that just got the ball rolling. You obviously impressed them as a good representative of the NRA and the gun fraternity in general!

Since they didn't just turn it over to law enforcement, it seems they were clearly looking for just the right person to be the new caretaker, and you deserved the nod.

If you got the grandfathers name, wouldn't it be awesome if it lettered as shipping to him.

Like the revolver, that piece of granite and the subsequent logo seemed to be destined for you.
Great stories and, again, thanks for sharing.

Thank you everyone!

Some of you asked about the price, I probably paid to much but the money didn't matter. The gun needed good home and I got lucky that's all.

I did load it with some very lite loads. 4.3grs of Solo 1000 with a 200gr swc bullet.

Thanks again!
