So the model 64 is the .38 and they are a good cheaper choice?

Yes sdustin, the M64 is the .38, +P, stainless version of the M10. Most .38, +P only Smiths will be less expensive than the .357 models. You will find that quite a few of the M64s will have been LEO guns and will be etched by that particular department. They vary in condition greatly. I like the M64.

I think ill settle for a 38. Im looking to get a good six shooter so I can use the safariland speedloaders. When I worked for the Georgia department of corrections we were trained on a six shot Smith and wesson 38 I wasnt a fan of revolvers at the time I was young and thought like most people that they were slow and antiquated. After I used and got trained I figured out what im guessing everyone here already knows that wheel guns are great defense weapons. Well im guessing that we were using m64 they had 4" barrels and were stainless. I just now started to buy some revolvers. I started with a rossi it was good then had a Tarsus it was total junk. Then I got my first smith a 386 xl hunter. Its my favorite gun ive ever owned. And now I bought my wife a 642. I plan to collect at least one in each frame size excluding thw x frame right now. I may end up with a 460 in the long run but im still not sure. Thanks everyone and I will look for a 64 since im a cheap ******* and if im going to spend 800+ its going to be on a 629 pc snubby.
