Today, Sunday,, I saw my mailbox get mail delivery!!

I ordered a Prime delivery laser cartridge from Amazon,,
$10.50,, including delivery.
they said it would be here today,, I thought "Yea,,, RIGHT!!"

Well, sure enough, the package came today!!

I am a rural customer,, Sunday delivery near me is CRAZY!!
(not enough demand for such delivery)

Is this gonna be regular, from now on??

Only for Amazon, according to the PO guys I have talked to. I was stunned the first time it happened to me too!!! I got a little text message telling me my package had been dropped off in my mailbox, and when I checked, there it was.

I too live in a rural area, and now I see them delivering in towns as well. And I am told that this is the new normal, and will continue in the future.

But only for Amazon.

Best Regards, Les

It's a "maybe" delivery service. I've had them fail to deliver a package and leave a note on the door telling me where to go to pick it up. Problem was the stated reason for failing to deliver was a total fabrication. There was another thread about this issue a few weeks back.

Don't recall where I heard/read this but IIRC the USPS Sunday delivery of Amazon packages was an effort to compete with private carriers. Or I dreamed that. Either way I have been amazed and astounded at receiving Amazon deliveries on Sunday. hardcase60

USPS has been delivering for Amazon on Sunday where I live for over a year; my wife orders enough stuff, I think they have a dedicated delivery truck for her...................

Yes, I have received packages on Sunday from USPS. I was really surprised the first time it happened. Got one of those text messages from Amazon that says your package has been delivered. I decided to check the door even though I thought it unlikely, and there it was. It's happened a couple of times since as well.

Simple... in the age of email and the Internet the USPS is trying to stay relevant.

Relevancy doesn't have anything to do with it.

Until someone comes up with a way to deliver packages via e-mail or other Internet means, package delivery services such as the USPS, UPS, and FedEx will remain relevant to the business world and our way of life.

How Sunday delivery by the USPS can be cost effective is one of those great mysteries in life; they aren't cost effective with a full truck on regular days, so how can they be with an almost empty truck on an overtime day?

My letter carrier told me that USPS hired special part-time employees for this mission.
As part timers, they are not eligible for benefits or union membership.
Sign of the times.
Actually giving some work to young kids around here.

Relevant as in the post office keeping a business model to compete with those others you mention. They sure can't depend on traditional mail to keep them a float.
