Picked up a Sig a couple weeks ago, came with a threaded barrel, so having wanted a suppressor for along time, and lucking into this pistol config, i decided to jump thru the hoops. I have one C3 license already for a SBR, I hope this one goes faster (6 months on the first one!).
Does anyone have experience with Yankee Hill suppressors? I looked at AAC, but wow! the price difference is astounding.
I do understand the AAC is the Cadillac, but this is strictly a fun gun item, not needed, but always wanted.
Question is, if anyone can help, how happy are you with suppression for a handgun and does it make a real difference?
Any advice is welcome.

In my experience, even cheap suppressors will give reasonably satisfactory performance within their limitations. The big key to effectiveness is your choice of ammo. Almost all supressors to be at their best requires the use of subsonic ammo. As the quality of the can goes up this need is somewhat negated, but is still a consideration. Cooling also has an effect. The colder the suppressor is the more it reduces the expansion of the gasses. You will notice in most tech info a dry and a wet DB rating. Wet is where you pour a small amount of water into the suppressor. You can also ice them down to make the first shots very quiet.

One word of caution...if you think its gonna sound like it does in the movies you are in for a big disappointment.

+1100 .... feet per second that is
1050 is better still
in a full house 9 mike load ... this will be a 147 grain bullet.

I've shot alot of suppressed weapons and no, they do not sound like the movie guns at all, what I was asking, in a round about way I guess, was experiences with/ advice on a comparisson between the two, AAC and YH. YH I can get for around $400, AAC $800, perhaps 1 - 2 oz weight difference. For the difference in cost, is there some noticable difference in performance? What techno miracle would justifiy this difference. As I've stated before, I don't mind paying once for a quality item, but twice for mediocrity just gets my goat.
One of the best shooting experiences I ever had was firing a US Marshall's Mp5 FA suppressed, sweet indeed.
Since I reload, have been for 30 years, I can tailor make ammo, so the sonic 'crack' I have a chance at varying.
Overall performance, maintenance, lifespan is what I was looking for, a tall order I know. Just fishing for info.
Thanks, tho for the replies.

AAC makes a decent can, but it is not a company I choose to support. I would recommend either Gemtech or SWR without hesitation, both offer top notch products with excellent suppression and will stand behind their products 100%. Stay away from "cheap" cans as used suppressors are next to worthless, but a quality suppressor to begin with and you will be much happier.
