Yesterday the owners of the company I work for the last 32 years. Called me into the office they know my wife is ill and all days I miss will be paid no more FMLA days. These will all be paid vacation days. The work schedule is up to me I can work when I want. Today another call to the office. Mary & myself are to take a vacation together everything paid for meals, rooms, airfare, tips, told not worry about what I spend. I will not take advantage of my employer but will be fair. They are a family owned shop these boys value their workers. They where raised right.

I don't have the details of your wife's situation, but I would be inclined to give them an extra year or two to show my gratitude. Maybe part-time?

They know I care for them I worked for Grandfather, their Fathers ,and now the son's. They call me Dan the man. We talk about family, fishing, shooting, motorcycles ,vacations favorite places. How many small companies know your kids name and grandkids name. But in three building total employees just over 100 of us.

Mr. Lawecki, so sorry to hear of your wife's illness. I'm pleased to hear there are still small family owned companies in Toledo. I was afraid they'd all fallen during the hard times. I grew up across the line in Michigan. My husband and I left for jobs in the south back on the 80s.
Good for you and your employer on outstanding teamwork.
