A few months back I started noticing the caller ID on my cell phone would display a red background, the number that was supposedly calling in, and the massage "Suspected Spam Caller". I was able to grab a quick photo of the display this morning. Most of the time the call disconnects without leaving a message. Two days ago a call with that display left a robo spam message. Yesterday a call came in without the spam caller message, I did not know the number and did not answer the call, the same robo spam message as the day before was left. The warning system is not perfect, but at least the phone companies are working on the problem.

Is that a carrier thing, or a phone thing? That would be nice, due to the increased incoming spam calls.
Another new one around here is that you get a late night/early morning (2-3 am) phone call from outside the country, one I've been getting are from Sierra Leone. Apparently if you answer, call back, or unintentionally call the number in your "received call list" on you phone, it costs you a big amount of money. Just last evening I contacted my phone service carrier and put a block on incoming international calls to our mobile phones. Good idea if you do not intend to make or receive international calls.

I'm pretty sure it's a phone company thing. My cell provider is TracFone, but Verizon carries the calls. I use a Motorola X-4 Android 9. My brother uses an iPhone 6 and Verizon is his carrier. He told my he got the spam caller message once when the number displayed was that of a first cousin of ours that lives in Seattle. I just checked my call log and the call that I said was not tagged as spam but left a robo spam message, is tagged as spam in the log. I think it's a work in progress, but it is welcome work that seems to be getting better.
