sw 24-3 6.5" with round but

I have several 24-3 s with 6 1/2 " barrels and they are square but I now find one of my 24s has a round but grip. My 3 inch guns have round butt grips but this is odd. Does anyone know if this is common, just curious.

Possibly a 3" gun that's had the barrel swapped.
Only a letter will reveal the truth.

I have a 24-3 with all of the combat features , a 6 1/2"
barrel and round butt, in 44 Special. One nice revolver.

I think you are on to it. it does not have target trigger or hammer either. it was probably an easy change to make in 80 s.
