How did I do? 3 inch barrel and I would rate it at 98%. Gave $250 for it. According to the serial # H1079XX it was manufactured between 1975-1980.

I would have snapped it up in a min. That is less than I paid for my 3" RB 30-1 about 6 months ago in GA.

This is a wonderful shooting gun. I can't wait to start reloading for it.

Does anyone know the difference between a SB 30 and a 31?

For some reason, these little guns don't sell for a lot. I picked up these two with boxes and tools for $450 total. It may be the caliber?

oops.....I made a mistake. It is a 31-1 instead of the 30-1 that I showed previously.

You got both for $450?? Wow now I don't feel so good! Mind did not have a box either.

I guess I need to go to texas. Apparently .32 is just too small for them to call it a real gun. :D

Since I didn't see anyone answered this for you, a Round Butt gun is a .32 Hand Ejector, Model 30. A Square Butt is a .32 Regulation Police, Model 31. There is no such animal as a square butt 30, although there may be a mis-marked .32 RP which was stamped 30 in error, but it would then be a mis-marked Model 31, not a 30. Configuration is what determines the model, not what is stamped in the yoke cut.

Wow, that's a steal. I really like this little gun. I've had one I bought new in that same time frame. I had the trigger on mine lapped in so it has an action that will make a Colt Python jealous! Same gunsmith assured me it was strong enough and drilled the cylinder out to accept the then brand new .32 H&R Mag. I've always thought .32's were generally under-rated in the USA and it is still my bedside table gun! Have a good one and enjoy. I would buy all of them anyone came up with in that condition for $250! All day long!

Good buy, they are addictive and great to teach kids marksmanship plus easy on the wrists because of the low recoil.

I believe this is the only time S&W had 2 different model numbers for the SB and RB versions of a gun.
What you describe is what I understood to be the truth. However SCSW 3rd shows a picture of what it calls a SB m30 (p204). Your not saying "the Bible" is in error are you? :)

i've been thinking about getting one of those, they look like i would really like one. nice gun!
