Does anyone own one of these? I was at a gun show a couple of weeks and seen one of these and held it. It was a really nice piece with a nice price tag on it as well. Went back after some thinking about it and it was gone. I haven't seen one on gun brokers trying to get input if worth buying since a little pricey.

No info on the gun, but I did see one for sale in a LGS recently. They wanted $1800 for it.

Very pricey.

I have an old Colt Gold Cup I bought about 1986. I think I'll keep that as my one-and-only 1911.

I don't have the P C model but I do have three smith 1911's and they are great guns. Also look at the new e-series, I have one that is scary accurate and will eat any ammo. Best of luck and hope it works out.

I recently purchased the 1911pc and I love this gun. Not only is this gun stunning to look at, the trigger is a 3.5 lb pull and I love it! I'm still a newbie, but I find it to be a superb piece. It's light to carry and I do not regret the purchase or the price tag that came with it ( all worth while, I've put about 100 rounds through it so far after debating on making it a safe point, obviously that debate didn't last ). I've enjoyed shooting it at the range. Hope this info helps and good luck with your search
.

Which PC 1911 are you talking about?

They have made many models, and are all great shooters. Nice looking too.

I got one a couple months ago. The full size one with the lightning cuts in the slide. Great trigger, very accurate. Well worth the price. Definitely turns heads at the range.

What do the PC 1911's go for? S&W website shows a $1500 retail price tag. I watched a Youtube vid on them and I'm quite intrigued. The one I'm talking about is the model that Jbissone has, with the 3 diagonal lightening cuts in the slide.

I have a number of higher end 1911s and have shot many others over the years. A few months ago I purchased a NIB PC1911, product code 170261, the product that was produced prior to the slide cut outs. In terms of quality of build it seems to rank as good as most of the mid-range 1911s, but not $2k+ guns. Slide fit is excellent. Trigger consistent at 3.5. Lock up is very tight. The barrel to bushing is tight though I have seen better. Wilson Combat sights. The slide flats are well polished but the frame is satin stainless without polishing on the flats.

BUT - my new PC1911 had one problem that should not be seen in any PC gun. The bushing to slide fit was too tight and not polished. By too tight I mean that it was galled into the slide. Initial removal required a hardwood dowel and a hammer! Then it took a couple hours of fine sanding and polishing on the bushing OD to get it to go in and come out tightly but without galling. Totally inexcusable.

Bottom line – had I known of that problem I would not have paid $2K for that particular gun. That is MSRP and I don't see many lower. One gun should not a broad condemnation make but that PC smith had to recognize the issue during assembly.

And, there is another problem. A few weeks after that purchase I bought my first PC945. I haven't put it down since and doubt I will. As great as the 1911 design is, the 945 is superior IMHO. You would do well to give the 945 close study. You can pick up a used one in 95%+ condition for $1500-$1900 and well worth it. I bought another one when I found a steal for $1000.

Want to buy a beautiful, unfired PC1911? :-(

I also bought the E series with the tactical rail. Spoiled by the 1911PC but this is pretty nice as well.

"I paid $1349 at a LGS."
That is a decent price. I havn't seen any advertised locally yet. The trigger isn't the same one on your pistol, that is shown on the S&W website. Have you found any other differences?

Me dummy - LGS = local gun store. Just took a while.

Please check the product code on your PC1911 and make sure that we are talking about a 170261. The one shown in your pic is the new model with cut outs on the slide. I find one like mine on gunbroker @ $2k and a black equal one on Gunsamerica at I think it was $1900. That is all that were on the major sites. The new ones are selling at around $1500 so your number may not be too far off. Note also that there is a Pro series that looks like mine selling around $1300.

I could easily be convinced the S&W is moving away from PC in favor of the E series. If mine is any indication that is all that I got anyway.
