Let me preface this by saying I've owned a hundred different pistols over the years, M&P, Glocks revolvers, my favorite..1911in all shapes and sizes, CZ's Hi powers, a new sd9ve and I honestly am truly impressed with the sw40ve I just picked up in a trade. I thought what the heck worth a chance. I had always ready about the heavy trigger but never shot one till I got this. The guy I got from bought new and it only had 30 rds thru it. He hated it. I thought what the hell I'll buy it. Yes the trigger is long but its very consistent. Very easy for me to control the trigger. Much better than the M&P's and shield I had. Not as well as I shoot Glocks but trigger wise not even compatible.2 different styles. Shooting double action revolvers for so long helped me I'm sure as I shoot my Kahr cm9 great too. Anyways I just thought I'd put a positive spin on the Sigma it seems for a change. And honestly after 200 rounds and many dry fires the trigger has improved from what is. I think its a strong well made gun...no gun snob here, I'll carry this thing proudly. Fits in a Don Hume I have G21 almost perfect. First thing I did was grind those silly base plate down, omg its awful.Only complaint! :)

Most of us old revolver shooters have no problems with a Sigma, having long since learned how to control a "long heavy" trigger.
Pure torture for the "light trigger yankers", though!

You are right for sure sir. I appreciate my 1911 triggers more than anything but I've also learned many many years ago the value of trigger control and once that's mastered I think about any gun trigger can be learned. With some many options out there with "great" triggers out of the box so many are lost when it comes to a pistol such as this. I would normally have one my ever present 1911's strapped on or BHP but I've been carrying this quite a bit, I have a lot of confidence in it and that's the major hurdle to overcome!!

Wish I could afford a 1911, preferably in 9mm or even .22. I carried one in the Navy and was able to check out .22 model on weekends while I was still a midshipman.

If you are a serious 1911 fan, check out Terry Tussey's website. I know him and am/was a long time diving buddy with his dad. I still see his dad when I am back in San Diego on summer visits but that doesn't get me a discount with Terry. Anyhow, to see what a real craftsman does, check out:

Guess I'll settle for my SD9VE.

Oldtime DA revolver guy here. I love my SW40VE, and yes, I actually like the trigger. Like you, I have noticed us old timers seem to handle that Sigma trigger just fine. Our trigger fingers are acclimated from years of DA shooting I reckon!

Big Steve I agree whole heartily!! I've been reading up on the Apex and honestly see know need for this one. I like it just fine the way it is. Its a consistent pull and for me that's all that matters. Practice trigger control and it becomes second d nature regardless of the weapon.

I am retired NYPD since 1988 and carried a Smith model 10 and model 36 as a bug while on the job. On my last LEOSA qualification I shot my Smith 642 better than my Glock 27. I like the Sigma stock trigger I own both the 40 and 9 VE.
