I'm gonna be getting one soon and wanted to know if they were prone to any problems. I know of the long trigger pul. But any thing wrong besides that? A friend told me one that his 40 version took a crap on him when he pulled the trigger and it wouldn't go back.

I've had a SW40VE for over 6 months with no problems. I really like the pistol but with ammo availability I'm not shooting it as much as I would like to !

I consider them pretty reliable. Anything can break though, so
you never know. With the warranty, I don't worry much about it.
If it breaks, they will fix it.

A big 10-4 to that!

I have read lot about s&w doing trigger work for free. Do they do it for free for every one?

I've got two SW40GVE's and I get along with the trigger just fine. That said, I did send my wife's SW40GVE back to LSG Manufacturing and he "smoothed" out the trigger pull, but it didn't really seem to change it a whole lot.

I've been very, very pleased with mine.

DO NOT PULL THE COTTON OUT OF THE TRIGGER RETURN SPRING, it strenghtens the spring and without it it will break probably what happened to your buddys .40 other than that I've heard great things

How do they differ from the m&p? I like how the mp looks but is it worth the extra cost?

The 9ve and the 40ve are probably the best value guns out there. Not the prettiest but they are very reliable. I have one of each. Have carried the 40 quite a bit. Plenty of holsters available.

It depends. (Don't you just hate that answer?)
But seriously, both are reliable defense guns, and the M&P is more refined and more expensive.
I bought several Sigmas to use as trainers for intro to semi-auto because they are so simple to strip and clean, and are rugged and reliable. I rate it higher than most guns in its price class.
For IDPA, the M&P 9Pro is my first choice for SSP because it comes set up for competition (trigger, sights), and paying twice as much for the gun is not so significant when you consider cost of entry fees, travel, motels, meals, and ammo.

Oh yeah? How about a decent IWB that: 1. doesn't cost an arm and a leg, 2. fits neatly, 3. holds the Sigma in a foward cant, 4. is not as much bulk as the firearm, itself, 5. covers all corners and "points" of contact. 6. is easy enough to reholster that it doesn't require taking you pants off, 7. Actually conceals your concealed firearm. 8. retains without "retention device" aka snaps, straps, latches, etc, 9 permits draw without unlatchoing, unsnaping or otherwise releasing a retention device.

Yeah, I know . . . . it's a laundry list of stuff that prob cannot be done in one holster. But I'd be interested in what you think.

I have a Fobus that seems just right for outside the belt. Maybe someday an exotic polished leather basket-stamped and toned would be nice, but for now the Sigmas are for shooting, and not accesories to the tuxedo. That honor is reserved for the Model 39(no dash).

This is the Kholster Holster I just bought for mine, I've had it about a week and it works Great.

Heres what it looks like when you get it. (I wore it for a couple of days to help break it in)

Here it is after I cut it down and put a combat cut on it.

They have a great turn around and a 90 no BS return policy, Lifetime on materials and workmanship. Cutting it down does not void the warrenty. Best of all cost is $45.00 including shipping. I have a 10% discount number for you if your interested, PM me and I'll get it to you.

VEEEEEEry interesting. I have seen that holster, but I had just not thought of cutting it. Isn't it amazing, this being stuck in a paradigm?
