Didn't know where this should go so I put it here.

I bought only 2 SynTecMags for AR-15's from Cabelas and I started to buy a dozen for the price. At $19.95 a magazine, what a deal.

Well they haven't made it into my weapon and they will not. Don't know how they would feel in the gun and I'm not going to bother.

Too cheap because they are cheaply made. Loaded a full 30 rounds of HSM 5.56 x 45 62 grain in one and twenty in the other. I had bought 2 boxes of the 5.56 earlier in the week and had bought 2 more boxes later in the week when I bought the magazines.

I had loaded the magazines just to see how the felt. I put them back into the bag and when I got home placed the bag on my desk. They had been siting there for 8 days when I just picked up the bad with lots of loose shells, thinking the box of other shells had opened up and spilled. The first magazine decided to unload itself down to where 14 rounds were left in the magazine. Upon trying to reload the magazine realized the magazine had just enough spread the the shells were loosing their stagger and trying to come out 2 at a time.

I will stick with the PMags that I have, they have been very reliable so far.

I have gotten to be pretty picky about AR mags. If it is not Colt, Magpul or one of the high end HK premium magazines (which are way too expensive, by the way), I am skeptical. I am anxious to hear any reports about the new Ruger steel magazines. I think they are made by one of the high end AR mag manufacturers.

I saw those mags a few weeks ago at Cabela's, while mags were extremely hard to find. Thought about them but I picked one up and it just didn't feel right, so I put it back. I guess it was the fact that you couldn't find a P-Mag anywhere, yet Cabela's had a 4'x4'x4' box full of these...

I've had good results with the Troy battlemags. very sturdy polymer mag like the pmag but a slimmer profile and good grip. have some battlemags and some Pmags, and a few of the old c-products aluminum mags, before all the drama with that company.

I'd return them. I use a couple of PMAGs but have had way too good of an experience with DSG Arms Aluminum mags with Magpul Followers. I have 20 now and everyone of them has been great. And for around $9 each, you just can't beat it. I just don't want to have my entire pool of mags made of polymer. No issues with PMAGS, just want to make sure I'm diversified.

do the metal mags have any advantage over Pmags? I have a few aluminum and don't really like them. they haven't ever had issues, but they just don't load as smooth so I always pass over them in favor of the Pmags / battle mags.

I buy mine in 10 packs. That brings them down to $9 each. Right now, they are $9.25 each if you buy singles. I see that as an advantage. For range shooting, I haven't had any problems with them. No feed issues or durability issues. Since they have Magpul followers, you're getting the same internals.

So, I can't speak to advantages except for price but I also can't find any disadvantages. I also have a few PMAGs. Doesn't matter to me which ones I pick up.
