I got an e-Mail this AM and actually opened it for a change. I was almost blinded, as they now have a "Cowboy Tactical" .22 6 1/2" SA revolver. Picatinny (Sp?) rail rear, Fiber optic front sight. There's a chance to win one. I didn't enter my name. Checked the website and there it is @ $220 MSRP. I'm not putting Heritage down in any way, but, do we need this? Their design engineers must be under 25 years old, and maybe enjoy Mother Nature a little too much at 09:15 coffee break. I'm sure someone will buy one, and put the .22 WMR cylinder in it for REAL power! I haven't looked at their website in quite a while, but they have their Rough Riders dressed in almost every costume imaginable.
Some people are going to buy this I would think. I won't, but good luck to them.

Sadly, it's just the latest trend in firearms right now, and if I had to guess, it's a demand that resulted from more gamers taking an interest in firearms, namely Call of Duty fans.

Honestly, this weird modernized classic firearms trend is something that I first saw many years ago in the Call of Duty series of First Person Shooter games, in which they had transitioned from the "Modern Warfare" theme back to the series roots featuring depictions of historical wars like the World Wars, the Vietnam war, and the Cold War.
Unfortunately, when Activision transitioned back, they apparently had no faith in modern gamers being able to appreciate historical firearms, so they decided to have it so that you could equip historical weapons with all sorts of anachronistic modern peripherals like Holographic Red Dot Optics, Laser Sights, Telescopic Scopes, etc.

Firearms manufacturers didn't start offering historical firearms that were modernized until well after Call of Duty started doing this, so I honestly think that's where it came from. Call of Duty players got into firearms, wondered why they couldn't attach all sorts of gadgets to their favorite weapons from Call of Duty WWII, Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty Vanguard, started contacting firearms manufacturers about it, and the Tacticool revolution was born.

So yeah, these guns aren't for your or me, but for those users on Reddit or the AR15 forum like Tactical_Pterodactyl1999, N00bpwnr, and MLGhardscoper1337.

It's a bit of a silly concept to be sure, but Heritage is certainly promoting it rather stridently. I think it meshes fairly well with the steampunk ethos. There's a small sliver of the market that'll be receptive to it.

Oh my....Picaninny rail and threaded barrel for compensator/suppressor.
So many thoughts....I can see the rail for a cheap scope but the threaded barrel on a .22 REVOLVER????? I betcha it will sell however.
6.5" Rough Rider(R) Tactical Cowboy

Caj do you not own a tv? Hollywood puts silencers/ suppressors on revolvers all the time. It works great.

Reminds me of that 22 Single Action I bought down at Roswell.
Then after a couple of outings, traded it for a Ruger.
The first time I ever heard the word - Picatinny was by my Army Buddy Milt.
He was stationed there twice.
Now you can get Bowie Knives and Mess Kits with Picatinny rails.

Wow, tough crowd today! Don't shoot the messenger!
Wife's car is turbo-charged 3 cylinder Chevy, automatic. (Gawd I can't wait till the lease is up!) But she doesn't like guns...what to do? Maybe get her a broom with a light mounted on it!
