Hello guys,

I have a dilemma. I picked up a beautiful CS45 about 5 months ago for essentially $400. (traded for a gun I had $400 into). I have someone who will buy it for $700 locally. I like that little fella a lot but that seems like a good investment return. And appears to be top dollar in the current market.

What says my fellow forum friends?

CS model prices...

Seems like the market value of these pistols moves up and down with some regularity. That's strong money in my opinion, and unless there's something particularly unique about this one, I'd sell it for that kind of offer.
I've had all three calibers, and liked my CS9's and CS45's the best. On the 45ACP end of things, the 457 does pretty much the same thing as a CS45 for a lot less money - very under rated, IMO. You may find that tidbit useful should have any seller's remorse down the road...
Regards,
XAVMECH

Do you use or carry it ?

Is there a gun you'd rather have?

Do you need the money?

I have a number of guns acquired in my 40s and 50s that as I enter my 60s....I'm beginning to ask myself ......"why?"

I have a Registered Magnum....... that only sees the light of day... maybe twice a year........

Occasional in the coat pocket carry, because no decent holster for it but I would carry it.

Any old pristine S&W revolver would fit nicely.

Nope don't need the money except for ^^^^

Have so many that just sit around. Do not shoot it even though I have ammo because I feel like I am shooting dollar bills out the barrel.

Got a Model 1006 that I love as well but it just sits. Hmmm

I find myself thinking this same thing frequently, but I always talk myself out of moving them.

I'd sell .....and I think that is what you've already decided you just needed some affirmation;):D.....it's an occasional cc...you really want another wheel gun...no sentimental attachment....and you can make a nice return.....call the guy before he changes his mind:D

So if you get tired of looking at that 1006 sitting around let me know I've got a few of its "brothers" it could hang around with.

El Paso Saddlery makes several holsters that your CS-45 will fit into nicely. I know this because I own and carry a CS-45. Not daily. My daily carry is a M642, but when I dumped all of my .45 ACP weapons I kept my CS-45 because it's fairly easy to conceal, shoots great, etc.

EPS is running a 10% Easter sale presently; you might want to check them out.

Well, yeah......! :)

If you don't need the money and don't have your eyes set on a different gun I'd keep it. Prices might vary - but they're not the easiest guns to find around when you want one.

I don't think you're shooting dollars out the barrel. The CS-45 will withstand the te$t of time unless you run 100,000 rounds through it in one year.

Every collector of guns, or acquirer if you prefer that term, has guns that just sit around, doing nothing. It's impossible for it to be otherwise. If you only have one, or maybe two, then they get all the attention. Once you pass three, well, you're well on the way to having at least one gun you don't use much. If you toss in some rifles or shotguns I ASSURE you that you have guns sitting around doing nothing. But sticking to handguns - one easy to carry handgun will literally dominate all of your other guns in the "see it every day" department.

In re the M 457 - I totally agree, it's almost the same gun as the CS-45 and it is routinely less money. I bought one years ago and never carried it because when I wanted to carry a small 45 I wanted my smallest, the CS-45. So I let a friend have the 457 - but I get it back when he acquires the gun he really wants. I WANT it back. Because it is a cool pistol.

My daddy gave me some excellent advice years ago.
" Son, don't ever sell a gun you like. Chances are you will come to regret it." If I like them I keep them...still good advice.

Good advice on both sides of the coin here.

Just to add: if I were in your shoes, with my history of buying and selling guns, and I had a chance to get a $300 return on one, I would go for it -- and consider that I was making back some of the money that I either overspent before, or undersold for, on all the others. :D

Plus, personally I don't see anything to love about a CS45 that I couldn't love equally (or probably more) in a good old S&W revolver or in some other $700 Third Gen semi.;)

Sell your gun, then join the Wah-Wah Club, and complain for the next 30 years about how stupid you were. How many others have regretted selling a gun just because the price was right? :D

Just saying, but you asked. :)

I joined the Wah Wah Club so I could complain about some of the guns I bought. :D

I'll do that if I ever buy a CS 45. ;)

Congrats on 3,500 posts, Engineer. 'Bout time for some karma, ain't it? :D

Any idea why he wants to give so much for it, Riccur?

A quick peek at GB sold auctions doesn't reveal support for a price that high right now, but they're not the only game in town, of course. Plus there is one for sale now here on the Forum for $625 -- good shape -- but hasn't sold yet.
