in 1981-82, my wife and i drove from our ranch north to Malta, mt. and boarded Amtrak to Chicago. it was fall and the foliage was spectacular. long but enjoyable trip. we wanted some good pizza and i don't remember the name, but it was very good. we walked from the hotel to the pizza joint, probably less than a mile. as we were walking to the restaurant there was a tall, lanky black guy leaning against a lamp post a short distance in front of us. as we approached him a small car pulled up along side and parked. a young lady got out and as she did he said , "hey babe, let's buckle up." she ignored him. it was humorous then and i still smile when thinking about it. wasn't carrying in those days and didn't feel unsafe.
