Talk me into (or out of) a 4506 buy...((Update w. pics))

Local dealer has a clean 4506 (no dash, TEP xxxx) with one mag, and no box for $500 (approx. $550 with tax). I did the GB previous auctions check and prices are all over the place. I really like this one and understand that 3rd Gens. will only go up in value, but I'm already sittin' on a 4566 TSW and a 4513, so I'm on the fence about this one. Damn!!!...if it was a mere $50 cheaper or had the box i would be posting 'show off' pics of the 4506.

it may be just what i need...i really like the size full frame, and .45 is my favorite handgun caliber.

When I found my 645, the guy had it for sale for $500, but I said to myself while I could pay that, to me, it's only worth $400, & had the will power to stand fast. So I contacted him, & politely told him $400 would be my top offer, & I realized he just placed the ad. Wait a week or so, & my offer would still stand. Sure enough, a week later he called me back & had no other offers, so I could have it for $400. You have to have the will power to not pay more than the gun is worth to you. This worked for me. I'd be happy with that deal glad you bought it. A nice 45 for just over $500 is a great deal in my book.

I remember buying all the N frames I could find once that hovered at or just under $600.

I'm glad to see you got the 4506, what other top tier .45 can be had at budget .45 pricing. I think you will be very happy with your 4506. I traded my well used M&P45 with a couple of extra mags for my 4506, I figure it was an even $500 value trade, and while the M&P was a good gun I don't miss it at all.

I've had quite a few .45s over the years and the 4506 is by far my favorite. It is accurate and reliable with a superbly crisp SA trigger and smooth DA trigger pull. I have a feeling you too will get hooked buy this fine firearm and start looking for more 3rd Gen .45s.

Picked the 4506 up a while ago. This baby is about spotless!! Although it looked real good when field strip inspecting it before purchase, she cleaned up even better. Can't wait to dirty it up.

If it appears ok mechanically and cosmetically...buy it. You may never get another chance. Just don't do the debt thing to own it. Be able to pay cash at the end of the day...

The gun show was ho hum, so it didn't hurt to have an empty wallet. Ammo was expensive and saw only a few Smiths....a mint 4006 w. box, $500. A very clean 39-2, $550. And an early 686 w. 8 3/8" barrel, $700.

Smith357 said just about exactly what I would say! Congratulations. My 4506 no dash is like yours but Ihave the earlier rear sight. I might add that Hogue rubber stocks improved my grip dramatically and at the same time improved my trigger finger placement and accuracy. And now my 4506 has become my favorite semi-auto. It would take a lot more than $500 to get it away from me.

I'm editing this to add a comment on what Smith357 said regarding the 4506 trigger. Like his my trigger can be described as butter smooth in both DA and SA. But what I really want to say is how much BETTER this trigger is than on any of my other 3rd Gens. The triggers on my 4566 and 4516 can be described as excellent but NOT on a par with the 4506. And I can only give a passing grade to the triggers on my 5906 and 4006. They both have a "notchy, noisy" feel to them. Maybe with time they will improve as both guns are essentially in new condition. They might even stay that way because I love shooting my 4506 so much.
