talking with a WW 2 veteran

Most of my school teachers were WWII vets. There were any discipline problems in their classes. They rarely spoke of the war.

The greatest generation is almost gone.

Their passing not only takes their stories it takes our fathers and relatives.

I hope we can stand proudly as they for our last 20-40 years.

Attention, forward march. Into the breach we go.

I worked with a WWII vet who was in tanks stuarts to be precise. And that was about all we ever heard from him on that subject. When he retired due to back injuries suffered during WWII he had a little book published. Basically about his exploits in the desert. Some years prior to his retiring we did a little horse trading. I got his 45 Ithaca in exchange for a saur 38H in 32 auto. That old 45 is one of my most treasured possessions. Had to have his spine fused and had a special chair that was quite similar to what the astronauts used. Could only spend a certain number of hours out of the chair. For years after we retired we exchanges Christmas cards. Then one year they stopped coming and I received a card from one of his relatives that he had passed away. Another one of the greatest generation gone. Still think about him and some of the wierd stuff we would do on the job. Frank
