Would anyone know about these grips pictured on the 642? Are they for a RB, is there a S&W stock number to order? They sure are sharp looking and would look pretty good on my 60-4. Thanks.

Check out altamont grips. The grips with the description below look similar. Sorry, I don't know how to post a link.

Hi! Those grips do look good, but as I just posted on a nearby thread, will they help to absorb the recoil of a J-frame which can be 'noticeable?'

A) The grips pictured are Altamonts.

B) No, they will NOT help absorb recoil, unfortunately. Though they do cover the back strap of the gun, they do not really offer any more surface area over which recoil can be dissipated. Plus, they are solid, with no "give" like a rubber grip. Regrettable, as they certainly look a lot better than rubber grips.

"Felt recoil" is a subjective thing. Whether any particular grip is more comfortable in use than another is something that only the individual user can decide. But, if one is looking for substantial recoil reduction - if the existing recoil is deemed too harsh - these won't do it.
