Talon Grips vs. Traction Grips vs. Custom Grips

My only wish is that Talon Grips make their rubberized grips in Flat dark earth!

Just Another Option

Here is another option. I borrowed these pics from another forum, But I have these on my M&P in the rubber texture, just didn't have any pics ready.

After all the research, I ended up ordering the Talon rubber grips. They seem to provide the most quality product with ease of installation and overall durability.

Can't go wrong with Talon grips , I have them on my 9c .
Or you can go custom and get some stippling done like the

Talons arrived today, nice that they include alcohol wipes as I seem to be out. Will attempt not to screw up putting them on later today I suspect

Clean the grip really good with the alchohol wipes , and if your using a hair dryer , go over 3 or 4 times. Good luck !

I have a set of Traction Grips on a Kel Tec PF9, (those little guns could use all the help they can get), they've been on the gun over a year, several range trips, lots of pocket carry, they are still on the gun, NOTHING has come loose.

I have Talon grips on 2 Glocks and a Shield. If applied correctly, they will last a lifetime. Here are the rubber Talons on my Shield.

Hair dryer or heat gun activates the adhesive . So once you have the grips on, heat the grips, press firmly all over the grip, repeat

No hair drier, but I have a heat gun, I suspect that would work on the low setting... I'll prob install this evening if I get some free time.

I think I am just going to get the frame stippled. I know it costs more, but I'm not a fan of covering the "stock" lines of M&P grips. I like the "S" shape. It's totally a signature look for the M&P. I don't want to lose that.

Finally got around to installing, wasn't as hard as I expected. I had to do a minor trim (1/16") on one of the uppermost rear strap tab as it overlapped just a tiny bit, but other than that it wasn't hard at all. Went over it a few times with heat gun on low... results are pretty nice imo.

Talons in any flavor! I've used them on Glocks and XDs, both the rubber and granulate. I much prefer the granulate. Some dislike the granulate because it is very, very grippy and tends to snag and wear on covering clothes. Simple fix, take some fine sandpaper and lightly sand the grip surface. Takes off the sharp edges, yet retains the positive grip.

Good Luck and good shooting. :D

I'm very pleased with Traction Grips on my Shield. There was a noticeable difference in grip while shooting, the gun didn't feel like it was moving in my hand at all and actually helped my grouping a bit. Best purchase under $10 for my Shield by far.

I have Traction grips on a PM9 and Talon's on my Shield. Both work, neither have caused any issues, the Traction were considerably cheaper.
