I've been toying with the idea of putting Talon Grips on my Shield 40 after reading an earlier post but can't decide between the granulate or the rubber. What are some of your thoughts on both, the good, the bad (if any). Thanks in advance for your feedback. :D

I am a big fan of talon grips. I have the granular on my Shield 40 and the rubber on my shield 9. I chose the granular on the 40 becuase it does have a little more snap and it gives me a better purchase on the gun so i figured the granular would be better. I did the same for my M&P 9c 40 c and Glock 26/27.

At first the granular does catch on clothis, But afetr a few months it does wear enough so that its gets smoother.
Just my 2 cents

I have the rubber ones on both my .40 shield and FS 9mm. I love them! I cant give you a good comparison because I have only tried the rubber. To me the granular seemed like it would really wear on the hand after a day at the range. Think about rubbing sandpaper on your hand for a couple of hours! (Maybe I just have soft girly hands! lol) I know some swear by them but I will stick with the rubber grips!

Another vote for the rubbery grips. I find that they have plenty of friction for a sure grip and would only use the granular on a competition gun.

I have the rubber ones on my 40c and granulate on my M&P 22. The granulate is a better grip and completely comfortable.

I would say if you conceal carry the sand paper grip might not be what you want.

Great feedback, I really appreciate it. I just had a second thought, I carry IWB in a Desantis Intruder so I'm wondering how the granulate would feel on my skin. hhhmmm?

Big big big big fan of Talon grips. Have them on my shield and buy them for all my guns. Love them.

I have Traction Grips on my Shield 9. I decided to try them out as they area bit less $$ than the Talon ( I have Talon on my Xds )

They don't do a complete wrap like the Talon but they work well and are easier to put on

Rubber is the way to go IMHO

I have the rubber Talon grips on my Shield 9mm and love them. They are inexpensive enough to buy both and see which ones you like...

Put the rubber on my Shield 9. I did end up putting an a second set as I overlapped the first ones where the tape joins at the back and they kept coming apart there. The second set I trimmed so the ends were flush and they worked great. That being said I also put the Pachmayr Tactical sleeve over the Talon grips and kind of like it better.

I have the granular - at first it feels a little rough but you quickly get used to it. It comes with a tiny alcohol swab to clean your grips so the tape sticks better but it may not be enough... I had to use glue in some areas. Had I known I would've used more alcohol and cleaned the heck out of it.

Have the rubber version on my Shield and love them. Very much worth the minimal investment to increase purchase. I have found that a quick very light coat of rubbing alcohol (cotton ball) after cleaning the gun and getting a bit of solvent or lubricant on the grip does serve to keep the grip tacky to the touch. I also chose to cut the portion of the extended magazine grip tape for use on the frame as a trigger finger index point. This I really find helpful.

I've had the granulate on other guns. Very positive grip. On my Shields, I prefer the rubberized. I think the granulate would raw out my skin or snag on clothing. The granulate can be sanded down a bit per the accompanying instructions too though.

I have a the granulate on my Glock 19 and they have been great on it. I just picked up a Shield and plan on getting them for it as well.

I love the talon grips, tried on granular, but now have all rubber on my glocks, didnt put any on my CORE

Well after most of the votes going towards the rubber version I actually order the granulate ones. Yeah I know, but I felt some on a friends shield and I actually liked the feel and I figured that it's an inexpensive investment so I can always change them. I truly appreciate everyone's feedback, not been a member long but everyone has been great What an awesome forum!!

Good luck with the granulate ones...I hope it works for you. I love my rubberized grips. Really a great feel both in the hand and on my side/back now that it's summer and I don't tuck in my t-shirts now that it's summer.

M&P9c needs one, where is the best place to get them & how much should they cost ? Thanks : )

Ordered my directly from Talon Grip's website, $17.99 free shipping and yes they have them for the M&P9c.

Finally received my Talon Grips, very easy to put on and what a great improvement!
