I have a fifties K with target hammer and target grips all factory. This one will not fit my gold K22 box. Were the guns shipped with anohter box or just minus the grips?

I am assuming that you are not the original owner of the gun. The probable reason is that the gun originally shipped with magnas and the targets were added sometime later. Since targets were seldom numbered to the gun, there's no way to tell for certain without a letter. There were a good many guns in the Masterpiece Series that shipped with a target hammer, but still with magnas and a standard trigger. The box often had a paper label indicating this (target hammer). Put some magnas on it and it WILL fit. OR,you can sell me the box. :D

I have one and both set of grips and only the magnas has will fit in the box with the revolver. The gold box is very tight with just the revolver.

If you can provide a good picture (front and back sides) of your target grips, they can be approximately dated to a specific time period. Some later target grips may have an actual date stamping on the back side. It's very probable that your grips are not original to the K22.

if the number on the bottom of the box is the same of the gun, then it is as noted above, an "added" pair of 'target' grips, and possibly, a target hammer at some time in its history............this was often done back in those days, especially when the "nice" oversized target grips became more available and prevalent , sounds like a nice gun (package)
